Short-term Maternity Leave a. A pregnant teacher shall be granted, upon request, a leave of absence as provided for in the Employment Standards Act.
b. At the time of requesting the leave, the teacher may elect to return on a date which would coincide with the commencement of the term, semester, or the first day of school following the spring break or Christmas break which first succeeds the statutory maternity leave. Such leave will be granted on the same conditions provided for in the Employment Standards Act. A teacher on short term maternity leave shall receive experience recognition for the duration of this leave.
Short-term Maternity Leave. Upon written request, a pregnant teacher shall be granted an unpaid leave of absence:
Short-term Maternity Leave. A pregnant teacher shall be granted a leave of absence in accordance with Part 6 of the Employment Standards Act or, with the approval of the Board, for an established period of time so that the return to duty will coincide with the commencement of the following term or semester, or the following Christmas or spring break.
Short-term Maternity Leave a) A pregnant employee shall be granted upon request a leave of absence:
i. as provided in the Employment Standards Act, or
ii. for a stated time so that the return to duty may coincide with the commencement of the following term or semester or following the spring break, unless an emergency was to dictate otherwise.
Short-term Maternity Leave a. The term of a short-term maternity leave shall be:
i. as provided for in Part 7 of the Employment Standards Act (1980), or;
ii. for a stated period of time not to exceed one (1) year provided that any commencement or return date beyond the statutory time limits shall coincide with natural term breaks.
b. A teacher on short-term maternity leave shall receive experience recognition for the duration of the leave.
c. For those benefits capable of being maintained, a teacher on short-term maternity leave may, upon prepayment of the employee portion of premiums, by post-dated cheques, have her benefits maintained by the Employer for the duration of the leave.
Short-term Maternity Leave a. A pregnant teacher shall be granted upon request a leave of absence as provided for in Part 6 of the Employment Standards Act (1996).
b. The Board may grant leave of absence for a stated period of time so that the return to duty will coincide with the commencement of the following term or semester or following the Spring break period.
c. In the case of adoption, maternity leave shall be granted on request and shall commence from the date of arrival of the child in the home. All the provisions of this section shall apply, including all rights guaranteed under the Employment Standards Act (1996).
Short-term Maternity Leave a. Employees shall be granted maternity leave in accordance with the provisions of Part 6 of the Employment Standards Act.
b. Provided an employee has forwarded to the Employer medical proof of pregnancy, maternity leave, without pay, shall be granted upon request of the employee. If the maternity leave is to exceed seventeen (17) weeks, then the following provisions shall apply:
i. At the time of such notification the employee may elect to return on a date which would coincide with the commencement of the term, semester, or the first day of school following the spring break which first succeeds the statutory maternity leave. Such leave shall be granted with the employee benefits as provided for in the Employment Standards Act.
ii. During the term of the statutory maternity leave, the teacher may, at least four (4) weeks prior to the end of such leave, request additional leave so that the return to duty would coincide with the commencement of the next term, semester or the first day of school following the spring break which first succeeds the statutory maternity. leave. Benefits will continue as provided for in the Employment Standards Act.
iii. Where an employee gives birth or the pregnancy is terminated before a request for leave is made under this section, the Employer shall grant maternity leave under this section or under section 51 (4) of the Employment Standards Act.
Short-term Maternity Leave. Statutory Maternity Leave shall be granted by the Board in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act and any other Federal or Provincial statutes. A copy of the Act shall be retained on file at the District Office and shall be available upon request.
Short-term Maternity Leave. A teacher who elects a short-term maternity leave pursuant to (1) above, shall be allowed an unpaid leave of up to one semester at the teacher's option, with a guarantee of her current position. If the leave is for more than one semester, then the teacher shall be placed in a comparable position, if available.
Short-term Maternity Leave a. A pregnant Teacher shall be granted upon request a leave of absence for up to:
i. the period provided for under Part 6 of the Employment Standards Act; or
ii. for a stated period in excess of eighteen (18) weeks such that the return to duty will coincide with the commencement of the following term or semester or following the Christmas or spring break, whichever occurs first.
b. The Teacher shall return to work in accordance with the arrangement made pursuant to Article G.21.2.
c. A Teacher employed on a temporary appointment shall make leave arrangements within the term of the appointment.
d. Short term maternity leave shall be counted for salary purposes as teaching service with the District.
e. Notwithstanding the provisions of this agreement, Teachers shall be entitled to all provisions of Part 6 of the Employment Standards Act.
