Sick Leave Weekly Indemnity. ‌ (a) The Company will provide, at no expense to the employee, a conventional sick pay plan administered by an insurance company and providing, subject to the rules of the plan, a weekly indemnity program providing a weekly benefit of 70% of earnings, (applicable classification hourly rate X 40) for a period not exceeding twenty-six (26) weeks beginning with the first day of disability due to non- occupational injury and the fourth day of disability due to sickness. When a general change in wage rates takes effect under the terms of the Collective Agreement, the amount of weekly indemnity benefit from the effective date of such change will be 70% of the basic weekly earnings rate to which the employee would be entitled if at work.

Sick Leave Weekly Indemnity parties agree to address the concern over the escalating cost of sick Indemnity as Employer will individual cases where there appears to be excessive use of sick leave. Employer will provide statistics to the local unit to substantiate the problem. Sick Leave Weekly Indemnity. LTD 9.2.1 Sick Leave/Personal days: When requested, employees will furnish a doctor's certificate proving disability to the satisfaction of the Company. Employees who achieve regular employee status shall be entitled, upon attainment of regular employee status, to a maximum of six (6) paid sick day credits per calendar year. Sick/personal time will be allocated on a pro-rated basis during the year in which an employee attains regular employee status. These sick/personal credits will not accumulate from one calendar year to the next, however, all unused credits will annually be valued and set in the employee's top-up bank to provide up to full pay to cover for paragraphs (b) and (c) below. This sick/personnal leave shall be applied to provide full pay by supplementing approved Weekly Indemnity or approved Workers' Compensation payments for working days lost during: (a) The three (3) waiting days prior to start of Weekly Indemnity payments resulting from illness; (b) The period of Weekly Indemnity payments resulting from sickness or non-occupational accidents or Workers' Compensation accidents, in which cases sick pay will be used to supplement Weekly Indemnity, Workers' Compensation up to full pay; (c) Days of absence, to a maximum of the employee's top-up bank for non-occupational disabilities which are covered by W.I. or L.T.

  • Weekly Indemnity (a) Casual employees are eligible for weekly indemnity benefits upon accumulation of 400 hours of service seniority. Once established, eligibility for weekly indemnity is retained unless the casual employee loses service seniority. Weekly indemnity benefits are payable for each period of illness up to a maximum of 15 weeks at 60% of the casual employee's normal average earnings. Normal average earnings are calculated by averaging the straight-time compensation and the compensation paid in accordance with Clause 31.7 in the six most recent biweekly pay periods in which earnings occurred. (b) The payment of benefits to a person who is laid off or separated prior to termination of his/her illness shall be continued after the layoff or separation until the total number of weeks for which benefits have been paid in respect of that illness is 15 weeks, except that benefits will cease on the effective date of a scheduled layoff or separation, if the illness occurs two months (or less) before that layoff or separation provided that notice of the layoff or separation was given prior to the occurrence of the illness. (c) The benefits described in this clause shall not be available to an employee whose illness, injury or personal circumstances may be described by any one of the following conditions: (1) who is not under the care of a licensed physician; (2) whose illness is occupational and is covered by WorkSafeBC; (3) whose illness is intentionally self-inflicted; (4) whose illness results from service in the Armed Forces; (5) whose illness results from riots, wars or participation in disorderly conduct; (6) who is ill during a period of paid vacation; (7) whose illness is sustained while he/she is committing a criminal offence; (8) who is engaged in an employment for a wage or profit; (9) who is ill during a strike or lockout at the place where he/she was employed if that illness commences during the strike or lockout; (10) who is serving a prison sentence. (d) The parties agree that the complete premium reduction from the Employment Insurance Commission accruing through the improved sick leave plan and the weekly indemnity plan will be returned to the Employer. This is an exchange for the implementation of the above-mentioned plans.

  • Sick Leave Reimbursement An employee who has received sick leave benefits for injuries caused by a third party shall be obliged, in the event such employee undertakes an action for recovery of damages against the third party, to seek recovery of the total cost of wages and benefits paid to the employee while on sick leave. The employee shall be obliged to reimburse the Employer to the extent the employee succeeded in recovering such wages and benefits. This provision includes claims made to ICBC.

  • Sick Leave Benefits Sick leave is an indemnity benefit and not an acquired right. A Nurse who is absent from a scheduled shift on approved sick leave shall only be entitled to sick leave pay if the Nurse is not otherwise receiving pay for that day, and providing the Nurse has sufficient sick leave credits.

  • Sick Leave Allowance Faculty with a full-time assignment shall accrue sick leave at the rate of eight

  • Sick Leave Policy It is the policy of the State of Ohio to not unreasonably deny sick leave to employees when requested. It is also the policy of the State to take corrective action for unauthorized use of sick leave and/or abuse of sick leave. It is further the policy of the State that when corrective and/or disciplinary action is taken, it will be applied progressively and consistently. It is the desire of the State of Ohio that when discipline is applied it will serve the purpose of correcting the performance of the employee.

  • Sick Leave Bonus ‌ For every six (6) months of perfect sick leave attendance after July 1, 1987, the employee will receive eight (8) hours of bonus time. This bonus time will be prorated for part-time employees. Such bonus time can be used for any leave purpose covered by this Agreement. Such bonus time shall be counted as vacation leave credits for purposes of determining eligibility for carry- over and cash payments.

  • Sick Leave Pay A Nurse granted sick leave shall be paid for the period of such leave at her or his regular hourly rate of pay and the number of hours thus paid shall be deducted from the accumulated sick leave credits of the Nurse.

  • Sick Leave Buy Back To encourage and reward employees who maintain good job attendance, the parties agree to the following incentive award: Employees who utilize two (2) sick leave days or less each assigned school calendar year and year-round employees who utilize three (3) sick leave days or less during each assigned school calendar year - upon request – shall receive payment for up to eight (8) days of sick leave, provided the employee worked the full assigned calendar year.* The following procedures apply to the payment of sick leave under this section. 1. An employee must have a minimum of twenty-five (25) days of accumulated sick leave remaining after the payment for unused sick leave under this section. 2. The payment of this incentive shall be paid to eligible employees no later than October 31st of the school year following the school year in which the employee qualified for the incentive pay. 3. For purposes of this section, sick leave shall be defined pursuant to all sections of F.S.1012.61. 4. Days for which such award payment is received shall be deducted from the accumulated leave balance. 5. Payment shall be equal to the number of eligible days times the affected employees daily rate of base pay times eighty percent (80%).
