Standby Defined. ‌ Standby assignment shall mean a period during which the Employee is not on regular duty, and must be available to respond to return to duty. The duration of standby will not be less than eight (8) hours. No Employee will be required to be on standby in excess of one hundred and eighty-three (183) calendar days in one (1) calendar year against their wishes.

Should an employee be unable to respond within the thirty (30) minute response time for any reason, they are required to contact another employee to ensure that the call is being addressed. During Standby the employee must remain in a sober condition suitable for reporting to work and be able to return within a reasonable time of being contacted. An employee on Standby when complying with above is free to pursue his/her personal business.
