Standby Assignments. (a) i) The Hospital will notify the Bargaining Unit President or designate prior to initiating ongoing standby assignments on any unit.
Standby Assignments a. Any employee who is required to remain on standby for emergency work shall be paid the equivalent of two (2) hours straight-time pay for each eight-hour standby shift, whether or not he/she is called to work.
b. Any employee who is required to remain on standby for emergency work shall be paid the equivalent of one (1) hour straight-time pay for each four-hour standby shift, whether or not he/she is called to work.
c. The employee who performs emergency work on standby duty shall be compensated therefor as overtime work. A minimum of two (2) hours overtime compensation per shift shall be paid to any employee who is called back in addition to the standby pay to which such employee is entitled pursuant to Subsection a. or b.
d. Any employee called in to work shall be compensated a minimum of two (2) hours' pay.
e. Nurses shall not be required to perform standby duties unless directed by the supervisor designated by the appointing authority or his/her designee to have administrative responsibility for the employee. Nurses who are so designated shall receive compensation as provided in Subsections a., b., c., and d. above.
Standby Assignments. Standby assignments are defined as those instances when unit members have been designated to be available to return to their work location on short notice to perform assigned duties during an off-duty period. In the event the employee is required to report to work, the employee shall be provided compensatory time pursuant to Section 5. Employees assigned to the Office of Information Technology who are required to work at home while on standby status, shall be provided compensatory time pursuant to Section 5.
Standby Assignments. Standby assignments require the employee to be in telecommunication, phone or pager range, and ready and available to report to the station optimally within one (1) hour of notification, with the understanding that at times there may be a reasonable delay due to circumstances beyond the employee’s immediate control. Typical standby assignments will be for a minimum of twelve (12) hours. Any assignments scheduled for less than twelve (12) hours will be paid a minimum of twelve (12) hours at the standby rate prescribed in the Tacoma Joint Labor Agreement, or three dollars ($3.00) per hour, whichever is greater. Employee scheduled for thirteen (13) or more consecutive hours of standby will be compensated at the stand-by rate prescribed in the applicable Tacoma Joint Labor Agreement, or three dollars ($3.00) per hour, whichever is greater for all standby hours worked. Xxxxxxx pay will cease when an employee is called out. When an employee is called out, a minimum of four (4) hours at the appropriate overtime rate will be paid from the time the employee is notified to report for the assignment until the assignment ends. All hours worked in excess of four (4) hours will be paid at the appropriate overtime rate. Xxxxxxx pay will resume once the overtime assignment ends. The employee will not receive standby pay during the period of time they are receiving overtime. When a City owned vehicle is not provided to an employee who is called into work during off duty time, the employee will be compensated an additional one (1) hour at the time and one half (1-1/2) rate.
Standby Assignments a. Any employee who is required to remain on standby for work shall be compensated the equivalent of two (2) hours’ straight time pay for each eight-hour standby shift, whether or not the employee is called to work. A standby shift of four (4) hours or less shall be compensated at one (1) hour straight time pay. Standby pay may only be earned once in each standby shift.
b. The employee who performs work, whether on standby duty or not, shall be compensated therefor at the rate established for the job class in the following manner:
(1) For office/field work which requires the employee to come to the office site or conduct a field visit the employee shall be paid a minimum of two (2) hours overtime compensation.
(2) For non-office/non-field work which does not require the employee to come to the office site or conduct a field visit but is conducted, for example, by telephone from the employee’s residence, the employee shall be paid based on the actual time worked, but not less than one hour compensation.
(3) When an employee is required to respond to a work requirement, but is then subsequently recalled, the employee shall be paid a minimum of two (2) hours’ compensation.
Standby Assignments.
a. Any employee who is required to remain on standby for emergency work shall be paid the equivalent of two (2) hours’ straight-time pay for each standby shift, whether or not he/she is called to work. A standby shift shall be eight (8) or lesshours.
b. The employee who performs emergency work on standby duty shall be compensated therefore as overtime worked. A minimum of two (2) hours’ overtime compensation per shift shall be paid to an employee who is called back, in addition to the standby pay to which such employee is entitled pursuant to Subsection a. An employee who is notified of the need to respond to another emergency while still on-call shall be compensated as a continuation of time; it shall not be considered a second call-back subject to a separate two-hour minimum. If the employee has returned home and the two-hour minimum has elapsed, an additional call-back would be subject to a separate two-hour minimum. If the two-hour minimum has not elapsed, it will be considered a continuation of time, not subject to an additional two-hour minimum.
c. Any regular employee not on standby called in to work shall be compensated a minimum of two (2) hours’ pay at the overtime rate.
d. An employee on standby who is called in, while en route to work in a County vehicle, is not entitled to the two-hour minimum.
Standby Assignments. A. An employee who is required to remain on standby shall receive an additional twenty- nine dollars ($29) per day as standby allowance. A day is similar to a shift day in that it begins at 8:00 a.m. and runs to 7:59 a.m. the following morning. Because the “shift day” begins on one day and ends on the following day, it is understood the standby day shall be the day when the shift began. Employees who are called out while on standby shall receive two (2) hours minimum at time and one-half. Any employee who is called out on New Year’s Day, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, or 4th of July, and works a minimum of eight (8) hours shall receive time-and-a half plus get (8) hours holiday to put in a bank to cash out; or may take the holiday on a different day within the same pay period.
B. An employee required to be on standby must be ready to report to work, fit for duty, within 30 minutes of notification. If not fit for duty, or if not reporting within 30 minutes, the employee's standby allowance shall be forfeited and disciplinary action may be initiated.
C. Consistent with the current city vehicle policy, employees assigned to stand – by (or on- call) are permitted to take a city vehicle home for the purpose of assisting in a more rapid response to any call-back duties.
D. Utility Worker and Operator classes shall be subject to Standby Duty Assignment. Standby Duty will be assigned by the supervisor in charge of the Utility Division. Employees assigned cannot exchange this duty without the knowledge and permission of the supervisor in charge. The City will provide the employee assigned Standby Duty a pager unit or other form of portable communication for notification of an emergency.

b. Any employee who is required to remain on standby for a four-hour shift for emergency work shall be paid the equivalent of one (1) hour straight-time pay for each four-hour standby shift, whether or not he/she is called to work.
c. The employee who performs emergency work on standby duty shall be compensated therefore as overtime work. A minimum of two (2) hours overtime compensation per shift shall be paid to an employee who is called back, in addition to the standby pay to which such employee is entitled pursuant to Subsection a. or b.
d. Any employee called in to work shall be compensated a minimum of two (2) hours' pay.
e. Employees on standby who are not called in to work but who respond to a phone call shall be compensated in six minute increments.

Standby Assignments. 1. A standby assignment is when the District designates an employee to be available on a day- to-day basis outside of working hours based on immediate District operational needs or other emergency situations.
2. The same terms and conditions noted above in Section H, Subsections 7-10 apply to employees placed on a standby assignment.
3. Employees placed on a standby assignment are compensated at the rate of $100 per day for such assignment.
