STUDENT TEACHING PROGRAM ASSISTANCE. Teachers supervising student teachers shall receive as compensation for such supervision the total amount paid by the college or university, less statutory payroll deductions including the Board's share of Social Security Tax, for placement of such student teachers. Such compensation shall be added to the teacher's regular monthly paychecks. Acceptance of student teacher supervision shall be voluntary.
STUDENT TEACHING PROGRAM ASSISTANCE. A. The Superintendent is directly responsible for the approval of Student Teacher placements in the District. No Student Teacher shall be assigned to any Supervising Teacher without the prior consent of the Supervising Teacher and the consent of the Building Principal.
B. Supervising Teachers shall have at least three (3) years of seniority in the District.
C. College or University Program Coordinators shall work directly with any Teacher participating in the Student Teaching Programs.
D. All payments received by the District for Student Teacher Programs or by any individual Teacher for services as a Supervising Teacher shall be deposited into a Supervising Teacher Fund and expended as follows:
1. An amount of twenty-five dollars ($25.00), if paid by a university, shall be paid to a Supervising Teacher, if requested within two (2) years following the end of the semester he/she supervised a Student Teacher upon request to the Superintendent.
2. This money shall be used to reimburse the Teacher for expenses incurred for tuition, education supplies, conferences, and visitations.
3. Any amount received for Student Teachers through sponsoring institution and not reimbursed to Teachers shall be used for total teaching staff in-service and professional development.
E. No Supervising Teacher shall have more than one (1) Student Teacher per school year.
F. No Student Teacher shall be placed in sole charge of a classroom until both the College or University Program Coordinator and the Supervising Teacher have agreed that this experience is desirable.
G. Student Teachers shall not be used as Substitutes for Teachers other than Supervising Teachers to whom they are assigned, and then only under emergency conditions.
STUDENT TEACHING PROGRAM ASSISTANCE. Acceptance of student teacher supervision shall be voluntary. A supervising teacher shall be paid the amount received by the school District from the college or university for supervising a student teacher.
STUDENT TEACHING PROGRAM ASSISTANCE. A. The supervising teacher shall receive the full amount allowed by the college supplying the student teacher, less the amount withheld for retirement, FICA, state and federal taxes.
B. Both the approval of the building principal and the affected teacher shall be required before a teacher shall be obligated to receive a student teacher.
STUDENT TEACHING PROGRAM ASSISTANCE. Recognizing the desirability of assisting in the professional preparation of prospective teachers, both parties agree to the following procedures for placement and assistance for student teachers:
13.1 Building administrators shall inform tenured teachers of the availability of prospective student teachers and the specific grade level or area of concentration desired. Any interested tenured teacher shall submit a response to the building administrator, indicating his/her willingness to serve as a supervising teacher. The Administration will make placement decisions.
13.2 A supervising teacher and the administrator shall work directly with the college or university program coordinator to develop extensive opportunities for the student teacher to observe and practice the arts and skills of the teaching profession.
13.3 In order to ensure a successful experience for the student teacher, the supervising teacher will follow the college or university guidelines.
13.4 The supervising teacher shall be available within the contractual day to support the student teacher throughout his/her entire experience. Thus, the supervising teacher should not be required to assist in other classrooms or programs within the District, except in emergency situations.
STUDENT TEACHING PROGRAM ASSISTANCE. Section A - A supervising teacher shall possess a minimum of a baccalaureate degree and have entered upon contractual continued service. He/she shall supervise only in the fields in which he/she is qualified to teach. Acceptance of student teacher supervision shall be voluntary, and with the approval of the building principal. A supervising teacher shall hold a valid Professional Educator License. Guidelines set up by the study committees for pre-laboratory and student teaching shall be followed. Approval of the superintendent, university representative and CEA may give special permission with shortage area assignments.
Section B - The Board agrees to provide student teachers with textbooks, but not consumable materials.
STUDENT TEACHING PROGRAM ASSISTANCE. Recognizing the desirability of assisting in the professional preparation of prospective teachers, both parties agree to the following procedures for placement and assistance for student teachers:
A. A cooperating teacher shall possess a minimum of a baccalaureate degree and have attained tenure in District 65. She/he shall supervise only in her/his field of major or minor preparation. Acceptance of student teacher supervision will be voluntary. A cooperating teacher shall hold a valid teaching certificate other than a provisional certificate and shall be selected in accordance with district-wide criteria effective upon adoption by the Board.
B. A cooperating teacher shall work directly with the college or university program supervisor when he/she is available. The university supervisor shall be strongly encouraged by the District to include a minimum of three (3) conferences between the supervisor and the cooperating teacher during the student teaching term. The supervisor shall be encouraged to assist in developing extensive opportunities for the student teacher to observe and practice the arts and skills of the teaching profession.
C. No student teacher shall be used as a substitute teacher, but any student teacher may be placed in temporary charge of a classroom when the cooperating teacher feels this experience is desirable.
D. The Board shall encourage participation in programs with colleges or universities which maintain the opportunity for the university or college supervisor to work closely with District 65 cooperating teachers on a regularly scheduled basis.
E. Within each school year, each building shall be given the opportunity to train student teachers when sufficient student teachers are available to make such distribution practicable.
F. Any stipends and/or scholarship(s) provided to the District as a result of accepting student teachers shall be made available first to teachers participating in the program and then on a lottery basis to the entire staff of District #65.
G. Reasonable effort will be made to equalize the distribution of student teachers within the District.
H. The Board will make accessible to a representative of the Council information on student teacher placements.
I. Universities and colleges providing student teachers to the District shall hold the District and the cooperating teacher harmless from any claims and liabilities arising from the student teaching and other clinical experiences.
STUDENT TEACHING PROGRAM ASSISTANCE. 6.1 SUPERVISING TEACHER ACCEPTANCE No teacher shall be compelled to accept a student teacher. A teacher who accepts a student teacher shall be provided reasonable advance notice by the Board of the commencement of the student teacher's practicum.
