TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION FENCING. The Owner shall install temporary construction fencing on the Lands in accordance with sound construction practise and in accordance with the requirements the City Engineer, from the time of commencement of construction of the Works to the time of completion of construction of the Works.

TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION FENCING. A. Prior to any excavation work the Contractor shall provide temporary construction fencing as shown on the Drawings and/or as required to completely protect the work area and injury to persons or property.
TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION FENCING. A. Temporary construction fencing shall be provided and paid for under as specified under Division 01 Section, TEMPORARY BARRIERS & ENCLOSURES.
TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION FENCING. This Subsection includes requirements for Temporary Construction Fencing and related items, specifically for the area between pedestrian access and the work area. Temporary Construction Fencing shall be installed in these locations to prevent pedestrians and other users of the existing or new sidewalks from gaining access to the work areas. Temporary Construction Fencing, where required, shall completely separate the entire construction activity from pedestrians. It is not acceptable to place “construction tape” or hazard cones around excavations, construction areas, etc. A more rigid method of protection is required. Contractor shall submit a site plan showing the location of Temporary Construction Fencing for review by the Owner a minimum of three weeks prior to its installation. Provide site logistic plans for each phase of construction showing the extent of fencing and any access points within the fence, including hydrant and fire command points. For site access control, openings in the fence will be secured with a gate(s) and chain with a series of padlocks to allow EPD, NU and contractor access. Temporary Construction Fencing for pedestrian access areas shall be erected before any construction work, excavation or other site preparation begins, including repair to or removal of existing infrastructure. Two weeks minimum notice shall to be provided to the Owner before any construction fencing is erected. Placement of Temporary Construction Fencing shall respect the surrounding area and acknowledge the presence of local environmental conditions including access or pathways, stairs, trees or vegetation, weather, and equipment. Placement shall also recognize the difficulties that individuals with sight impairment face and not place them in danger through unexpected changes in travel routes or placement of obstacles. Temporary Construction Fencing shall remain in place throughout the construction activity and shall not be removed until the need has ceased and the area made safe. Temporary Construction Fencing shall be either metal or plastic. The following materials are not acceptable as fencing material: chicken wire, barbwire, razor, single strand wire, snow fencing or welded fabric. Dependent upon the need for protection, construction fencing shall be a minimum of 72” in height. It shall be constructed of knitted polyethylene barrier fencing, predominantly orange in color. TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION FENCING. The Contractor will place temporary 6-foot chain-link fence with screening material on all accessible sides of the property with improvements to be demolished to keep the property off limits to pedestrians and trespassers throughout the duration of the demolition work. The chain-link fence will be removed after the completion of the project.

  • Design and Construction In complying with the requirements of the specification both with respect to arrangement and detail, design is to conform to the best current engineering practice. Each of the several parts of the material is to be of the maker’s standard design provided that this design is in general accordance with the specification. The essence of design should be simplicity and reliability in order to give long continuous service with high economy and low maintenance cost. Particular attention should be paid to internal and external access in order to facilitate inspection, cleaning and maintenance. The design dimensions and materials of all parts are to be such that they will not suffer damage as a result of stresses under the most severe conditions. Fully detailed specifications of the several parts of the material are to be submitted describing particularly the materials to be used. The materials used in the construction of the material are to be of the highest quality and selected particularly to meet the duties required of them. Mechanisms are to be constructed to avoid sticking due to rust or corrosion. Workmanship and general finish are to be of the highest class throughout. All similar parts of the material are to be interchangeable. All equipment is to operate without undue vibration and with the least possible amount of noise and is not to cause a nuisance. All equipment is to be designed to minimize the risk of fire and any damage, which may be caused in the event of fire. The equipment is also to be designed to prevent ingress of all vermin, accidental contact with live parts and to minimize the ingress of dust and dirt. The use of materials, which may be liable to attack by termites or other insects, is to be avoided.
