Union Days. 16.81 The Union shall be granted the use of ten (10) days per year for the purpose of Union business or membership related activities upon prior notification to the Human Resources Administrator. These days can be used as full days per member or in any hourly increment as requested by the Union President and will be tracked by the Human Resources office. Notification will include the name of the member(s) and the assignment(s) and the incremental hourly usage requested.

Union Days. A. There shall be forty-five (45) days allotted for union business to be used by teachers authorized by the union.

Union Days. The Union shall be allowed a total of 100 days over the course of this contract to be utilized by the Union for the purpose of attending conventions, seminars, conferences, and meetings necessary to advance the knowledge of its members for both education of administering the union contract and furthering the continuing education of its members in the business of healthcare and the art of nursing. The Union will give the Center two weeks notice or as soon as practicable of its intention to use union days.

The Union shall provide the superintendent or his or her designee notice in advance if a matter is previously scheduled. In other instances, and to the extent feasible, the Union shall provide the employer with twenty four hours notice. This requirement shall not apply in an emergency.

The Union indemnifies and holds harmless the Board of Education, its members and employees from claims made by any member of the bargaining unit with respect to the application of this provision of the collective bargaining agreement. The Union shall assume the responsibility for defending the board against any and all claims, demands, suits, expenses or other forms of liability, imposed as a consequence of the board’s compliance with this provision of the collective bargaining agreement. The Union shall select and employ counsel chosen by the Union and shall pay any judgment levied against the Board of Education its members or employees.
