WELDING TEST. 23.01 Whenever a welding test is required by the employer it is agreed that the employee, while taking such test, shall be in the employ of the employer and such test taken on the employer's time. Any Millwright for whom a welding test is required shall be eligible to be re-tested.

WELDING TEST. Non-ticketed welders requesting a welding test will be provided with a coupon by the Company and test on their own time and pay for the cost of testing. Welders required to retest shall retest on their own time and the Company will pay for the test if test is successful. At layoff, any employee classified as a welder whose ticket has expired during employment with the Company shall be provided with the facilities to retest on his own time, and, if successful, the Company will pay for the test. (CANADIAN WELDING BUREAU TICKETS ONLY).
WELDING TEST. If transverse butt-welds are to be used, the poles shall be subjected, at each joint, to a bending load which causes the butt-weld (half circumference) to be under tension. The load shall be varied according to the section and shall not cause permanent set. The load (or the amount of deflection produced) shall be to the satisfaction of the Engineer and sufficient to ensure that each butt-weld is of adequate strength. The Engineer shall witness as many of these tests as he may deem necessary, preferably during the course of manufacture. The manufacturer shall give adequate notice, to permit the Engineer to attend the inspections. Any joint where cracking occurs shall be ground out to the full thickness of the material, rewelded and tested again.

WELDING TEST. Any welder who is required to have a welding ticket to work on specified site shall be tested by the contractor. All materials, fees, and time associated with the test up to a maximum of eight (8) hours per day shall be paid for by the contractor. If a welder fails the test they may be re- tested if time permits, where the contractor will pay the cost for the test only. No time will be paid to the welder for re-testing.
WELDING TEST. Where journeymen are required to take welding tests for certification, they shall, before starting tests, be placed on the payroll of the individual Employer, and shall be paid in accordance with the wage schedule contained in this Agreement. Welders shall be given certification papers on every job (which requires them) upon termination due to reduction in force or upon project completion.
