Workload Reduction. Any full–time unit member who performs the duties and responsibilities of a department chair or curriculum coordinator/work area/program coordinator/college-wide coordinator as contained in this Article shall receive a workload reduction of at least one (1) section in accordance with Article XII, Section 12.03.C.2, whether or not the unit member holds such title. Part–time unit members may be assigned duties and responsibilities of a department chair or curriculum coordinator as contained in this Article but shall not be eligible for a workload reduction in accordance with Article XII, Section 12.03.C.2.

11 A. School-wide Implementation
12 1. For schools offering Dual Language models, school leadership will ensure that 13 responsibilities related to the school-wide implementation of the program shall 14 not be the responsibility of the classroom teacher.
15 2. Teachers in the Dual Language Program will be provided specific District- 16 designated training in dual language instruction and provided the instructional 17 materials necessary to implement the program.
18 3. Teachers in Dual Language program will not be expected to assume the role 19 of interpreters for other conferences or communication in the school. The 20 District will continue to provide interpreters as needed. See Section 3.14 for 21 additional details.
22 4. Bilingual teachers, including teachers in the dual language program, are not 23 responsible for translating school-based materials and must be offered an 24 extra service contract if they are asked and volunteer to do that translation. 25 This section does not apply to translating their own or their partner teacher’s 26 classroom materials.
27 5. Bilingual teachers in the Dual Language program are not responsible for 28 translating District-approved curriculum materials. If the translated materials 29 for a target language class cannot be located, the teacher should contact the 30 DL Coordinator for their building and/or a member of the District Language 31 Learning team to determine the appropriate support or mitigation. Section 32 4A.10.L outlines a teacher’s options.
33 6. Dual language teaching partners are expected to collaborate around teacher- 34 initiated communication with families to distribute that type of workload 35 equitably.
36 7. SLTs are charged with reviewing and communicating a school’s interpretation 37 and translation protocols annually to the staff. (See Section 3.14).
38 B. Elementary Stipends: A stipend of $1,000 will be paid to elementary Dual 39 Language program teachers (English and partner language, as well as Special 40 Education teachers engaged in Dual Language program implementation) to cover 2 increase to $1,500 beginning in the 2025-2026 school year.
