WELDING TESTS. 31.1 On hire welders must possess the qualifications and class of welding ticket specified by the Employer. It will be at the Employer's discretion whether a welder who does not possess the qualifications and class of welding ticket specified will be hired.
WELDING TESTS. Section 1 A welder who has served his apprenticeship with the Employer, upon taking his initial "B" Pressure Test shall receive six (6) hours regular pay for taking his test. If the employee works for the Employer less than thirty (30) calendar days after receiving six (6) hours regular pay for his initial "B" test, he shall have deducted from his final pay an amount equal to six (6) hours pay at his regular rate.
WELDING TESTS. When required or necessary with respect to certain work within the trade jurisdiction of the Sheet Metal Workers' International Association, welders shall have all applicable certificates provided that: - the test shall be arranged by the employer, - present employees will be tested as required at the employer's expense, - new employees required to take the test shall not be paid for the time spent taking the test.

WELDING TESTS. 8.01 All welders are required to carry their welders log book to all projects to which they are dispatched. Once an Employer is in receipt of a welders log book, the Employer shall be responsible for its safe return or replacement cost in the case of loss or theft. Any Employee holding a current Provincial Government Welding Certificate of Qualification and/or a Welders Log Book, who is required to take a Provincial Government test, shall be paid for the time required to take the test, including materials and inspector fees.
WELDING TESTS. 13.1 Any welder possessing the appropriate current Ontario Government welding certificate of qualification may be required to take a test. Such welder shall be paid for the time required to take a test together with the travel and transportation expenses contained in Article 29 of this Agreement. Failure to pass a welding test shall preclude payment of transportation expenses.
WELDING TESTS. 37.1 An existing employee who is required to take a welding test by his Employer will remain in the employ of his Employer while taking such a test and will continue to receive his appropriate pay and all applicable benefits. New employees required to take the test shall not be paid for the time spent taking the test. New employees who fail the welding tests will be paid the appropriate travel allowance at the applicable rate.
WELDING TESTS. 7.01 Any welder who is required to do additional testing by the Employer, shall be paid for weld time of four (4) hours per successful test (excluding the boiler ¼ Down Hand Plate or other single ¼ plate test, will be paid two (2) hours). Additionally, the prevalent Tank Constructor test consists of three plates welded in the vertical, horizontal and overhead positions and will be paid a maximum of four (4) hours total, upon successful completion. Those requested to take an abbreviated version of the tank constructor test will be compensated at one and a half (1.5) hours for each successful test. Any welder required to take additional welding qualifications for employment with an Employer and who fails the required weld test, QW-320 of Section 9 of the ASME Code will come into effect. At the sole discretion of the Weld Test Examiner, the welder may be granted the opportunity to take a second test. In any event a welder will not be paid for a failed test. If a welder is required to test at the job site, the welder shall be paid for any applicable travel allowance, but not for the failed test. If an Employer is requesting more than three (3) tests per welder and a welder has successfully completed three (3) of four (4) tests, the Employer may retain the welder and pay for the three (3) successful weld test. If the Employer decides not to retain the welder, he or she will be paid for the three (3) successful weld tests. For every required test and any examiner permitted second test the Employer will pay the transfer fees, materials and inspector fees.
WELDING TESTS. 28.1 On hire a welder must possess the satisfactory qualifications and be in possession of either a current Canadian Welding Bureau (All Position) Certificate or an equivalent Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations (MCCR) Certificate in accordance with Section 9 of the ASME code, as required by his Employer. It shall be at the discretion of the Employer whether a welder will be hired who does not possess the satisfactory qualifications or either one (1) of the above certificates. * An employee's "regular residence" is the place where he maintains a self- contained domestic establishment (a dwelling house, apartment or similar place of residence where a person generally sleeps and eats) in which he resides and for which he can show proof of financial commitment.
WELDING TESTS. Any welder possessing the appropriate current Ontario Government welding certificate of qualification may be required to take a test. Such welder shall be paid for the time required to take a test together with the travel and transportation expenses contained in Article of this Agreement. Failure to pass a welding test shall preclude payment of transportation expenses. Any welder required to take further welding tests at any other time during his period of employment shall be paid his normal wages for the time required to take such tests. Welders passing a test will be furnished a copy of test papers from the Employer or party requiring a test as soon as available. Welders when laid off shall be supplied a letter under the letterhead of the Employer specifying date of welding test and procedure to which he is qualified. NORMAL Article
