Academic Administrators. 28.1 This Article shall apply only to those Academic Administrators who hold academic rank, who would be members of the bargaining unit were it not for the fact that they hold administrative positions which exclude them from the bargaining unit.
Academic Administrators. III.15.1 Academic administrators are persons who, in addition to their administrative office, hold probationary or tenured faculty appointments in departments or programs, but who are excluded by definition from the bargaining unit because of their administrative office.
III.15.2 Faculty and librarian members who are appointed as academic administrators or as members of the Board of Governors shall retain their academic status within their departments or programs. During their term of administrative or Board service, they shall be deemed eligible for consideration by Departmental/Program Personnel Committees, departmental/program Chairs, COAP, the Xxxx and Xxxxxxx and Vice President Academic for career development decisions, including merit awards, on the basis of their academic achievements over that period. Where an academic administrator or faculty member on the Board of Governors is awarded a merit award, such shall be in addition to the number provided for in III.12.1.

University supplementary top-up benefits described in this section are contingent on the Member applying for the maximum Employment Insurance (“EI”) benefits available to the Member under the Canada Employment Insurance Act, and all leaves are subject to the provisions and regulations of both the BC Employment Standards Act and the
Academic Administrators. (a) Academic administrators are persons who, in addition to holding probationary or tenured faculty appointments in departments or programmes, also hold an administrative office for a designated term, and are excluded pro tem from the bargaining unit because of their administrative office.
(b) Faculty members who are appointed as academic administrators shall retain their academic rank within their departments or programmes. Time spent as an academic administrator shall be deemed equivalent service for the purposes of seniority, entitlement to administrative leave**, and pension accumulation, but not for the purposes of consideration for tenure or promotion. However, during their term of administrative service, academic administrators shall be deemed eligible for consideration of promotion and tenure by the Tenure & Promotions Committee on the basis of their academic achievements (teaching, scholarship, research, and/or creative work, committee and community service) acquired prior to and/or during their term of service as academic administrators. In cases of tenure consideration, the academic administrator must have attained the minimum equivalent of three years full-time teaching experience at Algoma University, with the award of tenure taking effect only upon his or her return to full-time teaching. **The distinction between sabbatical leave and administrative leave is understood as follows: Sabbatical leave is acquired as a result of academic service as outlined in Article 18:01 of the Collective Agreement. Administrative leave is acquired as a result of administrative service accrued while serving as an Academic Administrator. The latter is granted by the Board upon the recommendation of the Administration and may be added to accumulated sabbatical leave. Administrative leave shall be taken at 100% of salary. Any combined sabbatical and administrative leave shall be processed by the Tenure & Promotions Committee; a negative decision by the Committee will not preclude the administrative portion of the leave.
(c) Faculty who are appointed as academic administrators may carry, as part of their normal duties, a course load appropriate to the demands of their administrative responsibilities.
(d) Remuneration for academic administrators shall be in accordance with the academic rank that they hold, as well as the salary increments for such ranks, as negotiated by the Faculty Association. Any additional remuneration shall be in the form of a stipend (Article ...
Academic Administrators. In the case where academic certificated bargaining unit members are absent without pay for any reason, the number of workdays in the fiscal year will be used to adjust their annual salary.
Academic Administrators. Where librarians are appointed to administrative office or as members of the Board of Governors and are excluded by definition from the bargaining unit, they shall be deemed eligible for consideration by the Library Personnel Committee, COAP, and the University Librarian for career development decisions, including merit awards, on the basis of their professional achievements over that period. Where an academic administrator or librarian member on the Board of Governors is awarded a merit award, such shall be in addition to the number provided for in III.9.2.1.

III.7.1.1 Academic administrators are persons who, in addition to their administrative office, hold probationary or tenured or permanent appointments in departments, or within the Library, but who are excluded by definition from the bargaining unit because of their administrative office.
III.7.1.2 Faculty and librarian members who are appointed as academic administrators shall retain their academic status within their departments or within the Library. During their term of administrative service, they shall be deemed eligible for consideration by Departmental or Library Personnel Committees, COAP, the Xxxx and Xxxxxxx for career development decisions, including merit awards, on the basis of their academic or, in the case of librarians, professional achievements over that period. Where an academic administrator is awarded a merit award, such shall be in addition to the number provided for in VII.14.
Academic Administrators. 11.11.1 An Academic Administrator is a person appointed to a position that primarily carries organizational and administrative responsibilities in direct support of the academic mission and that requires qualifications similar to or greater than what would be normally required for a regular academic appointment at an entry level. It does not include appointments of academic administrators made for a fixed term and holding a base faculty appointment, such as a Xxxx, Chair, or Vice-President and does not include appointments where the main responsibilities are teaching and/or research.
11.11.2 An Academic Administrator need not be appointed to a particular academic Department. If the appointment is not made to a Department, a Xxxx, Associate Vice-President or Vice-President will be designated as the Line Authority for the appointment and will have the responsibility for making recommendations about the Member’s reappointment, evaluation and salary.
11.11.3 An Academic Administrator is appointed for an initial three year term, at one of the following academic ranks:
a) Assistant Professor
b) Associate Professor
c) Professor.
11.11.4 An Academic Administrator is not eligible for consideration for promotion or tenure and any Articles dealing with those processes do not apply to Academic Administrators.
Academic Administrators. 13.4.1 Evaluation Criteria
(a) administrative contributions; and
(b) teaching effectiveness, scholarly and professional contributions, where the appointment includes such duties.
