ACADEMIC CHAIRS OR SPECIAL PROFESSORSHIPS a) The University may establish an Academic Chair (AC) or Special Professorship (SP) in order to enhance the academic aims of a Faculty or academic unit. i) When a decision is made to establish an AC or SP, the Xxxxxxx and the Vice President Research and Graduate Studies shall jointly specify the name/area of the AC or SP, the source of funding, the expected category of the position and any special conditions associated with the appointment. The notice of the creation of the AC or SP shall be sent to the Association in writing. ii) Once the decision is taken to establish an AC or SP, a separate decision shall be taken by the Xxxx, Vice President Research and Graduate Studies and Xxxxxxx as to whether the AC or SP shall be advertised externally or solely to members of the bargaining unit. b) Appointment to an academic position and rank at Concordia University is separate from appointment to an AC or SP. The former is governed by the provisions of Articles 12.01 to 12.07 in particular, as well as all other relevant articles of this Collective Agreement. The latter is governed by the procedures specified in Article 12.08. c) Members appointed to ACs or SPs are subject to the provisions of this Collective Agreement. Nevertheless, such members are normally not eligible to hold a position excluded from the bargaining unit (Article 9) or leave without pay unless the source of funding agrees otherwise. d) The duties and responsibilities of members holding such appointments shall be consistent with Article 16.01 and will normally include at least two (2) courses in each academic year. Such members shall undertake a level of service consistent with that of other probationary and tenured members. e) Each Faculty Council shall establish a separate Special Advisory Search Committee (SASC) to consider each AC or SP appointment. Each SASC shall have the following composition: i) the Xxxx or delegate, who shall serve as Chair and who shall vote only in the event of a tie; ii) one (1) representative appointed by the Vice-President Research and Graduate Studies; iii) a minimum of three (3) and a maximum of five (5) available tenured members elected by and from among the members of the unit or units where the appointment is contemplated; iv) one (1) available member not from the unit or units where the appointment is contemplated, appointed by the Xxxx and approved by the Council of the Faculty; v) where appropriate, one (1) representative of the donor. f) Each Faculty Counc...

The notice of the creation of the AC, or SP shall be sent to the Association in writing. c) Once the decision is made to establish an AC or SP position, a separate decision shall be made by the Xxxx, VPRGS and Xxxxxxx as to whether the AC or SP shall be advertised externally, internally or both. d) When available, an internally allocated AC or SP, such as a Concordia University Research Chair (CURC), shall follow the process outlined under ‘Internal Search’ (Article 12.08 l) to n)). e) When available, an externally allocated AC or SP, such as a Canada Research Chair (CRC), shall observe the following process: academic units across the University shall be invited in writing to submit Letters of Intent (LOI) to their Faculty Research Committee (FRC) with a copy to the Xxxx. The call for LOI shall be sent simultaneously to the Association. The FRC shall submit a ranked list of LOI to the Xxxx who shall then submit a reasoned report together with the ranked list to the VPRGS and Xxxxxxx, who shall then decide the successful ones. The search for a CRC candidate is then made following the process under ‘External Search’ (Article 12.08 g) to k)). f) The same processes as in Articles 12.08 d) and 12.

  • Preparatory Contract Negotiations Meetings Where operational requirements permit, the Employer will grant leave without pay to an employee to attend preparatory contract negotiations meetings.

  • Teams One team for the purposes of the Event shall consist of one Vehicle. Each Vehicle can contain a maximum of three Team Members, provided such Team Members have entered into a Team Entry Agreement with the Company or have otherwise agreed in writing to participate in the Event upon and subject to the Terms of Entry and the Event Rules. For the avoidance of doubt, it is the sole responsibility of each Team to inform themselves of the maximum numbers of persons legally permitted to travel in the Vehicle under Relevant Law. The Company shall provide each Team with the contact details of the Approved Hirer who will be able to provide each Team with a Vehicle for use in the Event, subject to the Team entering into an agreement (the "Borrowing Agreement") with the Hirer outlining the terms of use of the Vehicle. Should the Vehicle not be delivered to the Designated Finish Point by 14:00 local time on 19th September 2021, then the team will be liable for the "Hire Costs" outlined below. Each Vehicle will be of a similar specification to that outlined in Schedule 4 to the Team Entry Agreement. For the avoidance of doubt, the Company shall make no representations or warranties as to the suitability of the Approved Hirer or of the Vehicle for participation in the Event and any rights or warranties which a Team may have or be granted in relation to the Vehicle shall be limited to those contained in the Rental Agreement or implied by any Relevant Law.

  • Training and Professional Development 11.1 The Employer will develop and maintain an employee training and development plan and provide such plan to the Union upon request. Staff training is intended to provide an opportunity for classified staff employees for training sponsored by the University Training and Development and the UW Medical Centers Organizational Development and Training. Education/Professional Leave is intended to facilitate employee access to continuing education opportunities. Training and educational/professional leave may be used for the purpose of improving job performance, maintaining and increasing proficiency, preparing staff for greater responsibility, or increasing promotional opportunities within the framework of staff positions available at the University. 11.2 Any release time for training for employees accepted for such classes shall be in accordance with the Executive Order (currently No. 52) governing this matter. In the event that two or more employees request the same training period and supervision must limit the number of persons who may participate at one time due to work requirements, the selection will be made on a mutually agreeable basis within the department. 11.3 The training program is a proper subject for discussion by either departmental or University-wide Joint Union/Management Committees. 11.4 If the Employer requires an employee to receive training, reimbursement will be provided in accordance with the University travel rules. Employee attendance at Employer required training, either during or outside working hours, will be considered time worked and compensated in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement. 11.5 Employee attendance at training not required by the Employer and not covered by Executive Order 52, either on approved leave from or outside of working hours, will be voluntary and not considered time worked.

  • Cooperation with Inspector General Grantee understands its duty, pursuant to Section 20.055(5), Fla. Stat., to cooperate with Florida Housing’s Inspector General in any investigation, audit, inspection, review, or hearing. Grantee will comply with this duty and ensure that any contracts issued under this Agreement impose this requirement, in writing, on its subcontractors.

  • Negotiation Teams Neither party in any negotiations shall have any control over the selection of the bargaining representatives of the other party. The parties mutually pledge that their representatives will be clothed with all necessary authority and power to make proposals, counterproposals and to reach tentative agreement on items being negotiated.   • Outside Professional Activities 27.01 Outside professional activities conducted with professional and academic responsibility can enhance the reputation of the University and the abilities of its academic staff and librarians. This article applies only to outside professional activities that involve the application of special skills and knowledge within the member’s particular professional expertise. While a member has a primary obligation to fulfil their University responsibilities, they have the right to engage in outside professional activities subject to the following conditions: 27.01.01 A member shall notify the Xxxx/University Librarian in writing of the type, time commitment, and location of any such proposed professional activity. If the proposed activity involves the teaching at another educational institution of a course related to the faculty member's professional expertise, the faculty member shall obtain the prior written permission of the Xxxx/University Librarian, and such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld; 27.01.02 Such activities shall not require the commitment of a block of time on a regular basis which might interfere with the faculty member's normal timetable for teaching activities or a librarian's performance of normal professional responsibilities. For faculty, such activities shall not require the member to devote more than an average of one working day per five-day week on an annual basis. For librarian members, such activities shall not require the member to devote more than 20 working days per calendar year. 27.01.03 Such activities shall not hinder the fulfilment of the member's obligations to the University; 27.01.04 The name of the University and University letterhead shall not be used in such activities unless agreed to in advance by the President, although nothing shall prevent a member from stating the nature and place of employment, rank, and title in connection with such professional activities, provided that they shall not purport to represent the University or to speak for it, or to have its approval, unless such approval has been given in advance in writing by the Xxxx/University Librarian; 27.01.05 Use of University facilities, equipment, supplies, services or other personnel shall require prior written authorization from the member's Xxxx/University Librarian or from the appropriate administrative officer. Financial arrangements for such use shall be made in advance. University activities shall have priority in the use of such facilities, equipment, supplies, services and personnel; 27.01.06 A member engaged in outside professional activities shall hold the University harmless against any loss or damage that the University may suffer from such activities; and, 27.01.07 In preparing their Annual Report, each member shall include a statement of their outside professional activities in the previous year. 27.02 If the Xxxx/University Librarian has cause for concern, the Xxxx/University Librarian has the right to review a member's current or proposed outside professional activities and may require the member to provide information concerning the time devoted to current and past outside professional activities. The Xxxx/University Librarian shall inform the member in writing of the results of the review and, if necessary, of any corrective action which might be required of the member.
