Buy Back of Sick Leave. Permanent teachers in the Xxxxxx-Xxxxx School District who leave at the end of the semester due to reduction in force and who are not entitled to retirement severance pay in Section A above are entitled to receive pay of thirty-five Dollars ($35.00) for each day of unused accumulated sick leave plus if the teacher complies with the following eligibility requirements: a. Must submit written application to the Board 120 calendar days prior to the last day of active, full-time service to the Xxxxxx-Xxxxx School District; and b. Has the twenty consecutive years of service with the Xxxxxx-Xxxxx School District at the time of leaving employment. A teacher who leaves the School District has the option to sell their sick leave accumulation back to the School District or transfer it to another school corporation if employed. If any sick leave days are sold back to the School District, that amount will be subtracted from the sick leave accumulation to be transferred. (1) Social Security and Medicare Bridge Benefits Certified Staff who have taught ten (10) or more years in the Xxxxxx-Xxxxx School District and have reached the age of 55 in the calendar year in which they retire will be eligible for Social Security and Medicare Bridge Benefits. These benefits and additional qualification requirements will be as follow: 1. An eligible retired teacher shall receive an annual Social Security Bridge entitlement of $2,200.00 per year until the earlier of the following: a. Seven annual payments; or b. The teacher becomes eligible for partial Social Security benefits. (The teacher need only become eligible, not actually apply for such benefits.) These Social Security Bridge Benefit payments will be paid in two annual installments on July 1, and December 31, of the calendar year following the last year of service to the corporation until the earlier of the payment of seven annual payments or eligibility for partial Social Security. Should a teacher become eligible for partial Social Security between July 1, and 27 December 31, that teacher will receive only one biannual payment that calendar year. 2. On July 1st of the last year of service the School District shall contribute a lump sum up to $2,224.00 annually towards the health insurance plan of any eligible retired teacher if enrolled in the health insurance plan at the time of retirement until the earlier of (a) ten premium years, (b) until the time the retired teacher becomes eligible for Medicare coverage or (c) withdraw...

Buy Back of Sick Leave. Any employee who has been vested in the state Pension Plan, upon termination will be entitled to buy back 50% of the employee’s accumulated sick days, maximum bank of 55 days, at the employees regular rate of pay. The only exception is if the employee has been dismissed due to any type of disciplinary action. All employees who have accumulated and maintain 50 sick days shall be entitled to buy back annually those days not used in the calendar year at a rate of 50%. Employees have the option to buy all sick days in that calendar year, bank them, or any combination of both.

  • Amount of Sick Leave Employees shall be granted sick leave on the basis of one and one-half (1 1/2) days per month of service in a continuing appointment, at the F.T.E. of current appointment. If in any one year employees have not used their sick leave, or only a portion thereof, it shall accrue to their credit for future use and benefits.

Payment shall be equal to the number of eligible days times the affected employees daily rate of base pay times eighty percent (80%).

  • Extension of Sick Leave Unless an employee otherwise requests in writing, an employee who has used up her sick leave credits shall be granted advanced sick leave with pay for a period up to fifteen (15) days subject to the deduction of such advanced leave from any sick leave credits subsequently earned.

  • Family Sick Leave An employee may use sick leave credits for family illness or injury only if the employee must provide direct care to an immediate family member. For purposes of family sick leave, “immediate family member” will mean the employee’s parent, spouse, or child, including step-child and xxxxxx child.

  • Donation of Sick Leave 8.10.1 On a case-by case basis and with mutual agreement between the Association and the District, any bargaining unit member may donate five (5) days (40 hours) of accumulated sick leave to another bargaining unit member who has suffered a long- term, non-industrial related illness or injury and who will exhaust all fully paid leaves. The employee suffering from such illness or designee must request, in writing, donations of sick leave from bargaining unit members only, through the Personnel Office. Requests shall be made prior to the exhaustion of all fully paid leave. Donation of sick leave will not be retroactive. 8.10.2 The Personnel Office will send out the notification of the request for donations of sick leave. The request will be sent for posting on all CUEA bulletin boards and the CUEA President notified of the request. All donations of sick leave will be voluntary with no personal solicitation of donors allowed. The names of any bargaining unit members donating sick leave under this provision will not be made public. 8.10.3 Only bargaining unit members who have a minimum of fifteen (15) days (120 hours) of accumulated sick leave remaining after donating five (5) days (40 hours) of sick leave under this provision will be permitted to participate in this program. Employees eligible to donate sick leave will do so on a District approved form and must submit that form to the Personnel Office. 8.10.4 The maximum amount of sick leave that may be donated to any one person requesting donations under this provision will be equivalent to sixty (60) days. 8.10.5 Donated sick leave will be utilized for the specified employee in the following manner: (A) donated sick leave will be assigned a usage number. The first donated sick leave received by the Personnel Office will be the first sick leave used by the beneficiary. As sick leave is used by the unit member requesting it, the leave time will be charge against the unit member donating the sick leave. (B) if the employee returns to work prior to using all donated days, unused sick leave will be returned to the bargaining unit member donating the sick leave. 8.10.6 Up to an additional twenty (20) days (160 hours) of donated time may be requested in writing to the Assistant Superintendent, Personnel Services by the affected member or his/her immediate family. In this case, Section 8.10.5 procedures will be put into effect. 8.10.7 When all paid leaves of absence have been exhausted, and the unit member is unable to return to work, in lieu of resigning the unit member may elect to do one of the following: take a personal leave without pay pursuant to Section 8.5 or Article VIII for not to exceed the remainder of the school year in which the leave occurs, or retire if eligible pursuant to the provisions of the State retirement system.
