Unused Accumulated Sick Leave. Administrators who retire in accordance with the provisions of Section A of this Article shall receive the current teacher substitute daily rate plus an additional one dollar ($1) per day for each unused sick day for each year the administrator has been under the contract as an administrator with the Garden City Public Schools. It is mutually agreed that the language in Article XXXX, Xxxxxxx X,0 of the contract is to be interpreted as meaning that an administrator who retires under the provisions of Section A shall receive the current teacher substitute daily rate per each unused sick day plus one dollar ($1) per day times the number of sick days for each year an administrator has been under administrative contract.

Unused Accumulated Sick Leave. At the end of each school year, teachers may sell back to the district any unused days out of the twelve (12) sick leave days that are allocated to them each year at the rate of seventy-five dollars ($75.00) per day. Notification of their intent to sell the unused days must be received in the District Office in the Human Resources Department on or before May 1st, and payment will be included in the last regular paycheck received by the teacher for the contract term. Any teacher employed in the Xxxxxxxx Central School District as of June 30, 2000 but prior to July 1, 2015, shall be eligible to deduct thirty (30) days of compensable accumulated sick leave, i.e, from 190 to 160 days (“ 160-Day Option”), except that all teachers with fewer than ten years of Xxxxxxxx teaching service will no longer be eligible to accumulate in excess of 160 compensable sick leave days. Teachers opting or required to take the above retirement benefit reduction (“160- Day Option”) will be eligible to receive an additional $500 added to the 20th year longevity step. The increase in the 20th year step will become a permanent increase in that step for all teachers who have opted or have been required to take the retirement benefit reduction. For those employees hired on or after July 1, 2015, the unused sick day payout will be paid out at the rate of $150.00 per day and a maximum of 120 days. 2. The retiring teacher is to give to the Superintendent written notice of the intent to retire (with selected plan) not later than the beginning of the school year in September, unless there are exceptional circumstances to justify such notice at a later time. In recognition of the value of unintemipted services in terms of both teacher effectiveness and monetary savings, the District has provided three plan options for the Teachers’ Retirement Benefit, as outlines below: 1. No Cash Option No employee shall be entitled to receive cash in lieu of or as an alternative to any of the Employer’s Non-elective contributions to the employees 403(b). 2. Contribution Limitations In any applicable year, the maximum Employer Contribution shall not cause an employee’s 403(b) account to exceed the applicable contribution limit under Section 415(c)(1) of the Code, as adjusted for cost-of-living increases. For Employer Non-elective Contributions made post-employment to former employees’ 403(b) account, the Contribution Limit shall be based on the employee’s compensation, as determined under Section 403(b)(3) of the Code and in any event, no Employer Non-elective Contribution shall be made on behalf of such former employee after the fifth taxable year following the taxable year in which that employee terminated employment. Unused Accumulated Sick Leave. 1. Teachers who retire from the Arlington District can convert the first sixty (60) days of his/her accumulated sick leave into payment for health insurance. 2. Effective July 1, 2001 retiring teachers who are at least 55 years of age shall be entitled to receive fifty (50%) percent of their last year’s daily salary rate for all accumulated sick leave beyond sixty (60) days, paid in the manner described in the parties’ May 30, 2003 Memorandum of Agreement. Teachers who wish to avail themselves of this benefit, by February 1st shall transmit to the District an irrevocable election to retire. Effective July 1, 1996, a teacher who desires to retire on February 1st shall give written notification to apply for this benefit to the Board of Education no later than the preceding February 1st. The District’s approval of an application for a February 1st retirement shall not be unreasonably withheld. The Board of Education, at its sole discretion, may grant or deny that application. Sick-Leave buyout shall not exceed $15,469.00 effective July 1, 2008 and $16,041.00 effective July 1, 2009.
Unused Accumulated Sick Leave. 10.2.1: After fifteen (15) years of service each employee shall be entitled, upon retirement, to receive a lump sum payment for three quarters (3/4) of the earned and unused accumulated sick leave which is on credit to them at the time of said retirement. The rate of reimbursement will be at $60.00 per day, with the additional provision that such a lump sum reimbursement shall not exceed $15,000. This lump sum payment for unused accumulated sick days shall in no way affect any pensions or other retirement benefits of the retired employee. Notice of intention to claim the benefits herein must be made in writing to the Board on or before December 1 of the school year prior to the school year in which the retirement or resignation becomes effective. In the event that an employee fails to give notice by the December 1 date, the Board may defer payment of all or part of the benefit to the school year following retirement. There will be a $15,000 cap on sick leave payout upon retirement. 10.2.2: Payment for unused sick days as detailed above shall be made to the estate of a deceased employee provided the employee died while in the service of the district. Payment will be made within sixty (60) days following notification of the employee’s death.
Unused Accumulated Sick Leave. A teacher, upon service retirement or disability retirement, in accordance with the pension fund, shall be reimbursed for unused accumulated sick leave at the rate of $70.00 per day up to a maximum of 300 days for all days accumulated. This shall apply to retirement from active teaching. Deferred retirement is not eligible. To qualify for payment, retirement must be effective at year end (June 30) with notification to the Board prior to February 15th. Advance notification requirement shall be waived in case of certified illness or documented emergencies. Upon the death of an employee while in active employment with the district, said compensation shall be paid to the employee’s estate. Said payment shall be made no later than 90 days of employee’s passing.
