CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES-WORK YEAR. 3.1 The work year of Instructional Assistants/Library Assistants and Food Service Employees shall be one hundred sixty (160) workdays, while Custodians/Maintenance, Secretaries and Administrative Secretaries shall be two hundred forty-one (241) workdays and the high school (counselor’s) secretary will work one hundred ninety-five (195) workdays. The work year is based upon the school calendar with the understanding that the calendar may be subject to change, but such changes which are by the District shall not affect a change in the required total number of workdays in the work year. Instructional Assistants/Library Assistants required reporting for full duty beyond the workdays set forth shall receive a pay differential prorated at one hundred sixty (160) of the annual salary for each extra day needed. Food Service Employees, IA’s and bus drivers work year begins two (2) work days earlier than the school calendar year. For the purposes of this section, "workday" shall mean any day during which a classified employee is required to report to work for full duty. Food Service Employees will be required to work one hundred sixty (160) workdays. If they are required to report for full duty beyond the workdays set forth, they shall receive a pay differential prorated at one hundred sixty 160) of annual salary for each extra day needed.

  • Cyclic Year Employment The Employer may fill a position with a cyclic year appointment for positions scheduled to work less than twelve (12) full months each year, due to known, recurring periods in the annual cycle when the position is not needed. At least fifteen (15) days before the start of each annual cycle, incumbents of cyclic year positions will be informed, in writing, of their scheduled periods of leave without pay in the ensuing cycle. Such periods of leave without pay will not constitute a break in service. When additional work is required of a cyclic position during a period for which the position was scheduled for leave without pay, the temporary work will be offered to the incumbent. The incumbent will be allowed at least three (3) working days in which to accept or decline the offer. Should the incumbent decline the work, it will be offered to other cyclic employees, in the same classification, with the necessary skills and abilities, in order of seniority, before being filled by other means.

Persons employed for holiday work only, or persons employed on a part-time work schedule which is less than twenty (20) hours in a bi-weekly pay period, or persons employed on an intermittent part-time work schedule (not regularly scheduled), or persons employed on as-needed, seasonal or project basis for less than six (6) months continuous service, or persons on leave without pay status immediately preceding or immediately following the legal holiday shall not receive holiday pay.
