Continuing Education Allowance. (a) A registered nurse or enrolled nurse who holds a continuing education qualification in a clinical field, in addition to the qualification leading to registration or enrolment, shall be paid an allowance subject to the conditions set out in this clause. (b) The qualification must be accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the employee in the duties of the position. (c) The allowance is not payable to Deputy Directors of Nursing or Directors of Nursing unless it can be demonstrated to the satisfaction of the employer that more than fifty per cent of the employee’s time is spent doing clinical work. (d) The allowance is not payable to Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinical Nurse Consultants or Clinical Nurse Educators. (e) A registered nurse or enrolled nurse holding more than one relevant qualification is only entitled to the payment of one allowance, being the allowance of the highest monetary value. (f) The employee claiming entitlement to a continuing education allowance must provide evidence to the employer that they hold that qualification. (g) A registered nurse who holds a relevant postgraduate certificate in a clinical field (not including a hospital certificate) that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 21 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement. (h) A registered nurse who holds a relevant postgraduate diploma or degree in a clinical field (other than a nursing undergraduate degree) that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 22 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement. (i) A registered nurse who holds a relevant master’s degree or doctorate in a clinical field that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 23 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement. (j) An enrolled nurse who holds a relevant certificate IV qualification in a clinical field (not including a certificate IV qualification which has the effect of upgrading the qualification leading to enrolment) that is accepted by the employer to be directly rele...

Continuing Education Allowance. 20.1 An employee employed in the classifications of Registered Nurse and Enrolled Nurse and Enrolled Nurses without Medication, except for Deputy Director of Nursing and a Director of Nursing, who holds a qualification in a clinical field, in addition to the qualification leading to registration, shall be paid a skills allowance, subject to the following conditions set out below; (1) An employee holding more than one relevant qualification is only entitled to one allowance, being the allowance of the highest monetary value. (2) The employee claiming entitlement to a qualification allowance must provide evidence to the employer that they hold that qualification. (3) Where an employee is part time or a casual, the allowance will be paid on a daily basis of 1/5 the weekly rate for each day worked. 20.2 Subject to the provisions in subclause 20.1of this clause, an employee who holds a post-registration hospital certificate as recognised by the employer and relevant to the employee’s current role shall be paid an allowance as per Table 2. – Item 12 per week 20.3 Subject to the provisions in subclause 20.1 of this clause, an employee who holds a post-graduate certificate or post-graduate diploma as recognised by the employer and relevant to the employee’s current role shall be paid an allowance as per Table 2 – Item 13. per week 20.4 Subject to the provisions in subclause 20.1 of this clause, an employee who holds a master degree or a doctorate shall be paid an allowance as per Table 2 – Item 14 per week. 20.5 An enrolled nurse who holds an Advanced Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing) qualification shall be paid an allowance of per week Table 2 – Item 15 per week. 20.6 The above allowances are not included in the employee’s ordinary rate of pay. 20.7 The allowances are not payable during periods of annual leave taken by the employee.
Continuing Education Allowance. An Employee who has completed a higher education qualification that is additional to the qualification relevant for registration or enrolment, will be paid, the allowance in Items 19 to 22 of Schedule Three subject to the following: • Allowances will be payable as follows: Registered Nurse Post-graduate certificate (not a hospital certificate) Item 19 Registered Nurse Post-graduate diploma or degree (not nursing undergraduate) Item 20 Registered Nurse Master's degree or doctorate Item 21 Enrolled Nurse or Endorsed Enrolled Nurse Certificate IV qualification (unless this upgrades the qualification leading to enrolment) Item 22 • Indicative fields of post graduate training include but are not limited to aged care, continence, gerontology, dementia care, community psychiatric, mental health/psychiatric nurse practice, psycho-geriatric nursing/mental health for older persons, palliative care, wound management, infection control, advanced nursing practice and rehabilitation. • The Employer must accept that the qualification is directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the Employee in the duties of their position; • An Employee is only entitled to one allowance, being the allowance of the highest monetary value; • An Employee must provide evidence to the Employer that they hold that qualification; • The allowance is not included in the Employee's basic periodic rate of pay; • Part-Time and Casual Employees are entitled to the allowance on a pro-rata basis.
