Death or Critical Illness in the Immediate Family. At the time of a death of a family member, up to three (3) consecutive work days off with pay will be granted to staff members provided they are scheduled to work those days, and provided sick pay or other paid leave is accumulated to the credit of the staff member, and is so charged. Family members are defined as spouse, children, parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, grandchildren, parents-in-law or other relatives or significant others living in the staff member household. If the family member lives out of state or country, the staff member may request additional time and utilize their accrued time or be granted unpaid leave. The staff member shall be required to bring in documentation that he/she will be out of the country as a result of a death in the family. In cases where the death of a brother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt or uncle, niece or nephew occurs, up to one (1) calendar day off with pay will be granted provided sick pay or other paid leave is accumulated to the credit of the staff member, and is so charged. A short period of emergency attendance upon a member of the staff member's immediate family who is seriously ill and requiring the presence of such staff member may be granted in accordance with University Policy.

A short period of emergency attendance upon a member of the Police Officer's immediate family who is critically ill and requiring the presence of such Police Officer may be granted in accordance with University Policy. At the discretion of the University, the period of leave may be extended upon written request, under special circumstances, with the approval of the University or its designee. The University’s decision to grant or deny extended time off under this section shall not be subject to the grievance/arbitration provisions of the Contract.

  • Illness in the Immediate Family ‌ An employee may use up to one-half of his or her annual sick leave allocation in any calendar year in the event of illness or a spouse, child, parent, or domestic partner. At the City's request the employee will provide satisfactory evidence of the facts justifying such absence.

  • Death in the Immediate Family The teacher may take a maximum of five (5) sick days per death at the time of the death. Immediate family shall be interpreted as mother, father, husband, wife, grandparents, grandchild, child, sister, and brother of teacher and/or his/her spouse. One (1) of these days must be the funeral day.

Up to three (3) days of sick leave may be used by a teacher for each serious illness of a member of that teacher's immediate family or birth of a child of a teacher.   • Illness in the Family Where no one at home other than the employee can provide for the needs during illness of an immediate member of her family, an employee shall be entitled after notifying her supervisor, to use a maximum of five (5) accumulated sick leave days per illness to care for the member of the family who is ill.

  • Damage to personal clothing An employee shall be reasonably compensated for damage to personal clothing worn on duty, or reimbursed dry cleaning charges for excessive soiling to personal clothing worn on duty, provided the damage or soiling did not occur as a result of the employee’s negligence, or failure to wear the protective clothing provided. Each case shall be determined on its merits by the employer.
