Firearms Qualifications. All certified police officers in the Sheriff's Department who are issued a departmental weapon are required to qualify yearly on the departmental qualification program. Those failing to qualify on their first attempt in accordance with established practice shall be provided additional opportunities for retraining and a second chance to qualify. Those failing to qualify on the second attempt shall be reduced to the Corrections Deputy classification and shall freeze their Deputy classification seniority. Employees reduced to Corrections Deputy for this reason shall be provided the opportunity to retrain and qualify within six (6) months of the second unsuccessful attempt. When successful during this six (6) month period, employees shall be returned to the Deputy classification. When not successful, employees shall continue in the Corrections Deputy classification, and shall only return to the Deputy classification if promoted from the subsequent promotional roster. Upon return to the Deputy classification, an employee's Deputy classification seniority date shall be adjusted for the time the employee was out of the Deputy classification. No employee failing to qualify shall be allowed to retain a weapon issued by the Department.
Firearms Qualifications. Each employee who carries a firearm by virtue of his appointment shall comply with such firearms qualifications as may be required pursuant to the firearms qualifications policy of the Sheriff (or his designee), as such policy may be amended from time to time. Reasonable amounts of ammunition and shooting facilities for practice and qualification will be provided by the department under rules specified by the Sheriff (or his designee).
Firearms Qualifications. Overtime shall not be paid for time spent by an employee in order to comply with the District's firearms qualification requirements. Any employee qualified during his off-duty hours shall receive compensatory time on an hour- for-hour basis not to exceed three (3) hours.

Those failing to qualify on the first attempt shall be provided an opportunity for retraining and a second chance to qualify. Those failing to qualify on the second attempt shall not be allowed to retain a weapon issued by the Department and shall not be allowed a work assignment in the Paramedic, Traffic, Courts, or Detective Division until they subsequently qualify.
Firearms Qualifications. A sworn employee shall qualify at minimum shooting proficiency levels as established by the Police Chief. The Police Department shall assume responsibility for scheduling department shoot periods and, whenever possible, an employee shall qualify while on duty. An employee not able to participate on-duty shall be allowed one (1) hour of overtime compensation at one and one-half (1.5) times the employee's regular rate of pay to qualify on the shooting range. The City shall furnish the ammunition necessary for a sworn employee to maintain minimum firearm qualification proficiency levels.
Firearms Qualifications a. Pregnant police officers are exempt from the mandatory handgun qualification requirements.²
Firearms Qualifications. The City shall pay $8.00 per month for each month in which affected employees meet or exceed minimum department standards for firearms proficiency as determined by the Police Chief.
Firearms Qualifications. 24.1 All employees upon written authorization from the Chief of Corrections that have successfully completed the facility’s Firearms certification training are required to carry a firearm in the line of duty, as set out below:
Firearms Qualifications. Prior to formal entry into the Department’s PTO program, all armed personnel shall qualify with their issued weapon.
Firearms Qualifications. Employees are required to meet a firearm qualification standards assessment on an annual basis. During the annual assessment and retesting if necessary, the employee is offered two consecutive qualification attempts to pass. Failure to meet the firearm qualification standards assessment will result in the employee being reassigned to an unarmed dayshift position for a period of two weeks. Employee will be compensated at the appropriate SSO rate. During that time period, the employee will be provided up to eight (8) hours of training. The employee will have an opportunity to retest under the firearm qualification standards assessment at that time. Failure to meet the assessment a second time will result in the employee being on an unpaid leave of absence for up to two weeks. Any necessary retraining will be at the employee’s own expense. The employee will be provided a third opportunity to retest at that time, and if the employee fails at that time, will be subject to immediate termination. Should there be an open CSO position at that time, the Director of Safety and Security may consider the employee to fill that position.
