Leave for Birth or Adoption of Child. At the discretion of the Authority, an employee may be granted special leave with pay up to a maximum of two (2) days for needs directly related to the birth or adoption of a child. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.
Leave for Birth or Adoption of Child.
(a) An employee who is not the birth mother shall be granted two (2) days’ leave with pay for the birth of the employee’s child.
(b) An employee shall be granted leave with pay up to a maximum of two
Leave for Birth or Adoption of Child. An Employee shall be granted leave with pay for up to two (2) shifts, to a maximum of 28 hours (those working a shift with the shift length greater than 14 hours are entitled to one shift).
(i) where an Employee’s spouse gives birth to a child;
(ii) for the purpose of adoption of a child pursuant to the laws of the Province.
Leave for Birth or Adoption of Child. (i) An Employee shall be granted leave with pay up to a maximum of one (1) day for the birth of his/her child. Such leave may be granted on the day before, day of, or day after the birth of the child, or on the day of the mother’s admission to, or discharge from the hospital.
(ii) An employee shall be granted leave with pay up to a maximum of one (1) day on the occasion of his/her adoption of a child.
(iii) This Article is in addition to any entitlement under Article 17.07.
Leave for Birth or Adoption of Child. An employee shall be granted leave with pay up to a maximum of two days for the birth of his/her child. Such leave may be granted on the day before, the day of, or the day after the birth of the child or on the day of admission to, or discharge from the hospital providing either or both of these events occur on a working day; An employee shall be granted leave with pay up to a maximum of one day for the adoption of a child. Such leave may be granted in two half-days at the request of the employee.

(i) where an employee’s spouse gives birth to a child; or
(ii) for the purpose of adoption of a child pursuant to the laws of the Province.

Such leave may be granted on day before, day of, or day the birth of the child, or on the day of the mother’s admission to, or discharge from the hospital. An employee shall be granted with pay up to a maximum of one (1) day on the occasion of adoption of a child. This Article is in addition to any entitlement under Article An Employee shall be to use sick leave with pay to engage in personal preventative medical or dental care as per Article Employees shall be required to schedule such appointments so as to minimize the duration of absence. Employees may be required to show proof of medical or dental care. An Employee’s use of such leave must be reported to their immediate supervisor, Special leave is to cover emergency situations and is not meant to be of a continuous nature. Where conditions warrant, special leave with pay shall be granted when circumstances not directly attributable to the Employee prevent the Employee reporting to duty. It is agreed that the Employee is expected to make up the scheduled hours used as special leave. The principles to be followed can be summarized as:

Special leave may be granted at the discretion of the Employer, for purposed of emergency or extenuating circumstances, directly involving an Employee's person, home or immediate family; such requests for special leave shall not be unreasonably withheld. Where an Employee has insufficient or no credits to govern the granting of special leave within the meaning of Articles and leave up to a maximum of five (5) days may be granted at the discretion of the Employer and the deduction of such advanced leave from any special leave credits subsequently earned.
