Special Leave Credits Clause Samples

The Special Leave Credits clause establishes an employee's entitlement to additional leave days beyond standard vacation or sick leave, typically for specific circumstances such as family emergencies, bereavement, or other personal matters. These credits are usually granted at the discretion of the employer or according to company policy, and may require supporting documentation or advance notice. The core function of this clause is to provide employees with flexibility to address unforeseen or exceptional situations without jeopardizing their regular leave balances, thereby supporting employee well-being and operational continuity.
Special Leave Credits. Employees shall accumulate special leave credits at the rate of one-half (1/2) day for each completed month of continuous service up to a maximum of thirty (30) days. Special leave is designed to provide a permanent employee with leave of absence with pay in the following circumstances:

Special Leave Credits. Where an Employee has insufficient special leave credits to permit the granting of special leave under Clauses or special leave up to a maximum of working days may be granted at the discretion of the Employer, subject to the deduction of such advance leave from any special leave credits subsequently earned by the Employee.

This includes employees caught on the land during severe weather conditions; (c) where a member of the immediate family becomes ill (not including childbirth) and the employee is required to care for his dependants or for the sick person. 19.05 The Labour/Management Committee shall hear appeals concerning special leave denials when requested by the affected employee. 19.06 Special leave in excess of five (5) consecutive working days for the purposes enumerated in Clauses 19.03 or 19.04 may be granted by the Senior Administrative Officer.
