Leave for Other Purposes. 15.11 (1) (a) Subject to prior approval, Employees may be granted leave before the last day of June to allow them to attend the start of a summer school course.

Leave for Other Purposes. An Employee desiring leave of absence without pay, may be granted leave in so far as regular operations will permit, providing reasonable notice is given to the Company. Such Clerical Agreement leave of absence shall not exceed what, in the opinion of the Company, is a reasonable period of time and the conditions of such leave, when granted, shall be at the discretion of the Company. Notwithstanding the provisions of the above, the Company may, in its sole discretion, grant such leave with pay as it may deem fit and proper.

Leave for reasons other than illness or those defined in Articles 5:01 and 5:02 may be granted at the discretion of the Division’s Board of Trustees (the “Board”), and salary may be deducted for each day's leave of absence, and the Board will be responsible for the substitute teacher as required. The deduction of salary shall be a fraction of salary equal to the number of days absent divided by the number of days in the school year as prescribed by the Minister.

In all cases of absence from teaching duties other than for illness or other reasons heretofore stated in this agreement, permission of the Board shall be obtained and any teacher thus absent from duty shall be deducted the salary of a substitute teacher for each of the first five (5) consecutive days of absence. Beginning at the sixth consecutive day of absence and for each consecutive day of absence thereafter, the teacher shall have 1/200 of his/her annual salary deducted.

Any teacher thus absent from duty shall have 1/n, (where n = the number of days in the current school year as determined by the Minister responsible for Education) of his/her annual salary deducted.
