MASTER MECHANIC. Master mechanics will be employed with the understanding reached in the pre-job conference.
MASTER MECHANIC. Master Mechanic - A Master Mechanic shall be employed by the Employer where twenty (20) or more employees in the bargaining unit are employed on any one project by any one Employer. Master Mechanics are employed for their knowledge in the repair and maintenance of various machines used in the construction industry and shall also work with the tools of the trade relating to the repair and maintenance on all machines coming within the jurisdiction of the bargaining unit. They shall also have a working knowledge of the qualifications of the men working for their Employer. Such individual or individuals shall not exercise any of the functions customarily performed by supervisors as defined in the National Labor Relations Act, as amended. In no way shall the Master Mechanic be deemed to be an agent of the Union. He shall receive thirty cents ($.30) per hour above the rate for Group 1.
MASTER MECHANIC. Where more than four (4) engineers are employed on any job excluding excavation, paving, oilers and apprentices by the same employer, there shall be a working Master Mechanic on each job and shall receive 50¢ an hour over the highest rate of pay and shall continue to perform current job as an operating engineer. When two (2) or more shifts are worked, Master Mechanics shall be employed as set forth above on any shift wherein the number of engineers employed on that shift meet the requirements for same. Where more than seven (7) engineers are employed on any job excluding excavation, paving, oilers, apprentices and assistant crane operators, the Master Mechanic shall cease running equipment but will assist in the repairs, the Master Mechanic will coordinate and will direct the operating engineers on the job site. The Master Mechanic when there are more than seven engineers shall be appointed by the Union from among that employer's engineers working on the job. Master Mechanics shall be retained by the employer after once hired until the permanent work force is reduced to six (6) or less engineers. Master Mechanics shall not be required to stay on the project when an individual engineer or engineer and oiler are required to work overtime. Master Mechanics may be retained by the employer, at the employer's discretion, as the permanent work force is reduced.
MASTER MECHANIC. Coordination of controlled inspections (Controlled Inspection testing shall be contracted directly by Owner.)
MASTER MECHANIC. To become a Master Mechanic, the applicant/employee would have to pass an additional seven (7) ASE certification tests designated by the Authority. The Authority will increase the base rate of pay ten cents ($.10) for each of the ASE certification tests successfully completed. The Authority will increase the base rate of pay an additional fifty cents ($.50) for those employees who successfully complete all seven (7) ASE certification tests for a total of one dollar and twenty cents ($1.20). It is the responsibility of employees to obtain and maintain the certifications in order to receive the additional compensation. The Authority will reimburse each employee the cost of taking andpassingeachoftheStateofMichiganorASEcertificationtests by providing the Authority written documentation that he has passed the test.
MASTER MECHANIC. A. The Company will create a pilot program for a Master Mechanic position in accordance with this section. Progress will be reviewed quarterly by the JPC. This pilot program will last no longer than 18 months, but may be revised or ended at any time at the Company’s discretion. At the completion of the pilot program, the Company shall have the discretion to decide whether to continue or not continue the Master Mechanic position. Master Mechanics may perform other work in the area when they are not fulfilling their Master Mechanic responsibilities.
B. The Master Mechanic will provide working expertise and hands on instruction across programs, shifts and job codes to coach employees to build their skills and mentor employees in processes and procedure (if necessary, the procedures in Section 16.10 or 16.11 will be utilized). In performing the responsibilities of a Master Mechanic, it is expected that the Master Mechanic will assist the team in achieving reductions in SR&R, reducing the number and severity of workplace injuries, improvements in new hire retention, and improvements in productivity and realization.
C. The process for selecting a Master Mechanic shall be as follows:
1. The Company shall determine, at its discretion, when a Master Mechanic position shall be created.
2. To fill any open Master Mechanic positions, the Company will open a requisition and the requisition will remain open for 10 business days.
3. A successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
a. The employee must be able to effectively communicate, train, and assist employees.
b. employee must be in good standing, meaning an employee must have (1) no more than one active disciplinary action of any kind.
4. The area Senior Manager (PLM) and the Union Representative (either the Xxxxxxx or In-Plant Representative, depending upon whether the Xxxxxxx is a candidate) shall interview and select the best qualified individual for the Master Mechanic position.
D. Master Mechanics shall receive a premium of $1.75 per hour over their current base rate of pay.
MASTER MECHANIC. A Master Mechanic will be employed where five (5) or more Mechanics are employed on any project and may be required to perform work as an Operator or Mechanic. Master Mechanic shall be paid $1.50 per hour over highest scale operator on that project contract.
MASTER MECHANIC generally defined as an employee who has mastered the Mechanic III position. The employee shall be disciplined to work independently. The employee shall make recommendations for repairs to all vehicles. The employee shall be able to repair and rebuild components on all parts of the coach. The employee must also be certified in A/C, brakes, and electrical troubleshooting. This position requires a CDL prior to the end of a probationary period.
MASTER MECHANIC. An employee shall be eligible for the Master Mechanic rate of pay by meeting the following qualifications:
a. Industry certification or trade competency in the employee’s primary craft assignment;
b. Competency in District-defined standards for safety, technology, customer service, diversity, and leadership;
c. Demonstrated competency in an additional craft after completion of an on-the-job cross- training plan; and
d. Four years successful evaluations as a Maintenance Mechanic on the Xxxxxxx School District evaluation forms. Employees who have previous Maintenance Mechanic experience at another public school district shall be credited with a maximum of two (2) years successful evaluations at a rate of one (1) year credit for every four (4) years of work at another district. Non-school district experience will be evaluated by the District for eligibility for similar work experience credit.
