Meal Breaks - Day Work. 13.1 Employees are entitled to normal meal breaks on ordinary working days unless there is an emergency. 13.2 Employees may take meal breaks as they fall due or at some other time by arrangement with the team leader. However, employees must not go without a meal break for more than five hours unless there is an emergency. 13.3 Employees who are unable to take all or part of their normal meal break must be paid: (a) overtime for the untaken part of the meal break; and (b) overtime rates until such time the meal break is taken. 13.4 Employees who are required to work overtime for a continuous period either before their ordinary commencing time or after their ordinary finishing time are allowed: (a) after one hour 30 minutes - a meal break of 20 minutes (b) after four hours - a second meal break of 20 minutes, but only if the employees continue the overtime for at least another hour (c) after eight hours - a third meal break of 20 minutes, but only if the employees continue the overtime for at least another hour. 13.5 The meal break must be paid at the appropriate overtime rate. 13.6 Employees may take the first meal break: (a) during ordinary hours without loss of pay if the entitlement coincides with their ordinary commencing time; or (b) at the commencement of the overtime or later by arrangement with the team leader, if the period of continuous overtime begins after their ordinary finishing time. 13.7 Employees who are required to work for a period of continuous overtime on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday are entitled to: (a) a meal break of 20 minutes with pay only if they are working during what would be their ordinary hours and the overtime is for more than four continuous hours; and/or Overtime - Meal Breaks Count (b) meal breaks with pay as set out in subclause 13.4 of this clause. 13.8 Meal breaks with pay allowed in connection with overtime are considered to be overtime. They do not break continuity and must be included in computing the amount of overtime worked by employees. Payment for Higher-Grade Work

  • Meal Breaks The timing of meal breaks on any particular job may be discussed between the Employer and the majority of employees at a particular site and varied by agreement. Occupational health and safety considerations will always prevail.

  • Day Work The Company shall structure the Project Working Hours to include one (1) half-hour rest break to be taken without deduction of pay by Employees working the Project Working Hours on any day (Monday to Saturday inclusive).

  • Lunch Breaks The lunch break will consist of a one-half hour (or one hour where scheduled) unpaid break taken mid-way during regular work day. In the event that an employee is required to work during his regular lunch period he shall be allowed a one-half hour lunch period between the hours of ll:30 a.m. and l:00 p.m., otherwise he shall be paid double time for working through said lunch period.

  • Rest Breaks Employees shall receive a fifteen (15) minute break during each four (4) hours worked. It is the Employer's intention to provide uninterrupted rest breaks.

  • Breaks in Service An employee’s seniority record shall be broken by voluntary resignation, discharge, reduction in force, or retirement. Should an employee laid off return to work within one year, the seniority will pick up from the date of return. Seniority rights will be forfeited if a continuous period of layoff exceeds one year. Should an employee leave his/her assignment in this bargaining unit for another position with the district, the seniority will be frozen. Should an employee return to this bargaining unit, seniority shall continue from the seniority level previously attained.

  • Breaks 40.1 One 10-minute paid morning rest break and one 30 minute unpaid lunch break will be scheduled within 6 hours after work starts. 40.2 Where an Employee is required to work more than two hours overtime after the usual ceasing time of the day or shift they shall be allowed a 20 minute rest break paid at ordinary time rates prior to commencing overtime. Employees who take payment in lieu of stopping work for this break will be regarded as having worked a further 20 minutes and shall be paid at overtime rates. 40.3 An Employee working overtime on a Saturday, Sunday or Public Holiday shall be allowed a 30-minute combined Rest Period/Meal/Crib Break after four hours work, such time to be paid at double ordinary time rates, with a further 20 minute Crib break to be paid at double ordinary time rates if the overtime continues past 8 hours worked. 40.4 In the case of overtime work being cancelled by the Employer at the end of the 4-hour minimum or any time thereafter, Employees will, in addition to the payments as prescribed, be paid for the 30 minutes combined Crib/Meal/Rest Period if not already taken. 40.5 If work proceeds beyond the 4 hours minimum then Employees will be paid for all time so worked.

  • Meal Break Unless there are exceptional and unforeseen circumstances, an employee will not be required to work for more than five hours without a break for a meal of at least thirty minutes duration. Meal breaks will not count as time worked unless specifically provided for in this Agreement.

  • Break in Service No absence under any paid leave provisions of this Article shall be considered as a break in service for any employee who is in paid status, and all benefits accruing under the provisions of this Agreement shall continue to accrue under such absence.

  • Sunday Work Employees required to work overtime on Sundays shall be paid for a minimum of three hours work at double time. The double time is to be paid until the employee is relieved from duty.

  • Break Period All employees working in full time (7 or 7.5 hour) positions shall be permitted a fifteen (15) minute rest period both in the first half and the second half of a shift.
