Mealtimes and Rest Periods. (a) Employees in all positions shall work consecutive hours including mealtimes. The paid mealtimes will be observed as a half-hour which will be taken as duties permit, and may be intermittent. The Employer will make every effort to ensure that employees have the time to eat and to use washroom facilities.

If there is no negative impact to facility operations, employees may request in writing to have their schedule amended to provide for a regularly scheduled, unpaid meal break. An employee may also request in writing to take an unpaid meal break on an occasional basis with the approval of their immediate supervisor. The paid mealtimes will be observed as a half-hour which will be taken as duties permit, and may be intermittent. The Employer will make every effort to ensure that employees have the time to eat and to use washroom facilities. Full-Time employees shall be permitted a 30 minute meal break and a ten (10) minute rest period in both the first and second half of a shift. The following shall apply to all part-time and casual employees: 2 hour shifts: No break Shifts greater than 2 consecutive hours: one 10 minute rest break Shifts or xxxxxx than 4 consecutive hours: two 10 minute rest breaks Shifts of at least 5 consecutive hours: one 30 minute meal break and one 10 minute rest break. Shifts of at least 7 consecutive hours: one 30 minute meal break and two 10 minute rest breaks. Staff working a split shift will not be provided with a paid meal break unless they work at least five consecutive hours. Staff working split shifts will be provided 10 minute rest breaks based on the following: Total daily hours of up to 4 hours: One 10 minute rest break to be taken in either the first or second split of their shift.   • Lunch and Rest Periods A. Each employee working more than four (4) hours per day shall be entitled to a minimum of one-half (1/2) hour duty free lunch period without pay.

  • Meal and Rest Periods For assignments where the employee is unable to leave for a thirty (30) minute meal period (i.e., live-in, shift or respite) the meal period shall be paid as time worked. For assignments where the employee is able to leave for a thirty (30) minute meal period (i.e., hourly), the meal period shall be unpaid. Except for emergencies, employees will be completely relieved from duty during the unpaid meal period. Fifteen (15) minute paid rest periods will be provided approximately midway through each four (4) hour segment of each shift. Employees will not be required to work longer than three (3) hours without a rest period, except in emergencies.

  • Meal Periods and Rest Periods (a) Regular hours of work shall include, as scheduled by the Employer, two (2) rest periods of fifteen (15) minutes during each shift of seven and three- quarter (7 3/4) hours and exclude an unpaid meal period of not less than thirty (30) minutes.

  • Meal Breaks and Rest Periods 7.1 Except when required for urgent or emergency work and except as provided in 7.2 below, no employee shall be required to work for more than five hours continuously without being entitled to a meal break of not less than half an hour. There will be only one meal break of not less than half an hour during a 10 hour shift.

  • Paid Rest Periods All Employees shall be given a paid rest period of fifteen (15) minutes in the first and second half of their daily shift in an area made available by the Employer. If mutually agreed to between the parties, the two (2) rest periods shall be combined.

  • Meal/Rest Periods All nurses shall receive an unpaid meal period of one-half (1/2) hour. Nurses required to remain on duty or in the Hospital during their meal period shall be compensated for such time at the appropriate rate of pay. All nurses shall receive one (1) fifteen

  • Rest Periods Employees working a full shift will receive one rest period of fifteen (15) minutes in each half of the shift. Employees working less than a full shift, but a minimum of four (4) hours will receive one fifteen (15) minute rest period.

  • Rest Period An employee who works overtime shall have at least a ten hour rest period between the end of ordinary hours on any one day and start of ordinary hours on the next day. If on the instructions of the employer, the employee resumes or continues work without having had 10 consecutive hours off duty, the employee shall be paid double time until he or she is released from duty for ten hour rest period. The employee shall then be entitled to be absent without loss of pay for ordinary working hours occurring during the ten hour rest period. In the case of shift workers, eight hours shall be substituted for ten hours when overtime is worked:

  • Additional Rest Periods When an employee performs authorized overtime work of at least three (3) hours duration, the Hospital will schedule a rest period of fifteen (15) minutes duration.

  • Rest Periods and Meal Breaks (a) All employees shall have two (2) fifteen (15) minute rest periods in each work period in excess of six (6) hours, one (1) rest period to be granted before and one (1) after the meal period, provided the staff to child ratio can be maintained. It is understood that meal breaks and rest periods may be combined subject to operational requirements.
