New Bus Runs. A. The Employer shall have the right to reestablish, evaluate, change, and obsolete bus runs, providing such action on the part of the Employer shall not be directed toward reducing the rate of a bus run in which no substantial change in the bus run itself has occurred. When a new or revised operation involves duties which are not adequately or specifically described or properly evaluated in an existing job description, specification, and classification the Employer has the right to develop and establish such new or revised job descriptions, specifications, classifications, rates of pay and to place them into effect. Whenever a new bus run is made operational, the Employer shall establish the job description. B. New Bus Runs. When a new bus run is placed into operation, or if a route is changed by more than 20 minutes, as provided in Section 4, the Board will notify the Unit in writing of any such run indicating the length and context of the run. If the run is added, or the route changed by more than 20 minutes during the school year, it will be posted. The most senior driver that successfully bids will be assigned to the run. A second and final posting of the newly vacated route will then be posted and bid in the same manner. If an opening exists after the second bid change, the opening will be posted and filled as determined by the district. The run will be added to the bid package for the following fall bid meeting. The driver that bids on an opening other than a vacated position after the fall bid meeting will be responsible to learn the route with no compensation that they chose within one week following the bid. If a driver is displaced from their fall route they had bid, by another driver, and moved to a different route, the district will compensate the driver for the time needed by the driver to learn their new route. Any openings that occur after March 31st will not be bid. The route will be filled for the remainder of the school year as determined by the district.

During this thirty (30) calendar day time period, but not hereafter during the life of this Agreement, the Union may request in writing the Employer to negotiate the classi- fication and pay rate. The negotiated rate, if higher than the temporary rate, shall be applied to the date the employee first began working in the temporary classification, except as otherwise mutually agreed. In the case where the parties are unable to agree on the classification and/or rate of pay, the issue may be submitted a permanent rate of pay, either as a result of the Union not requesting negotiations for the temporary classification during the specified period of time, or as a result of final negotiations, or upon resolving of the matter through the Grievance Procedure, the new classification shall be added to and become a part of this Agreement.
