Non-Consecutive Days Off. If the Railway contends it is not practicable to grant two consecutive days off to regularly assigned or regular relief employees and that it is necessary to establish non-consecutive days off, representa- tives of the railway and representatives of the em- ployees will confer and endeavour to agree upon accumulation of days off or the establishment of non-consecutive days off. If the representatives fail to agree the railway may nevertheless establish non- consecutive days off, subject to the right of the em- ployees to process the dispute as a grievance or claim under the rules agreement and in such pro- ceedings the burden will be on the railway to prove that it was not practicable to grant two consecutive days off.

Spare Board Engineers Not Available Regularly assigned engineers will be permitted to: Work a sixth shift in their work week either between shifts or on an assigned rest day when there are no spare engineers available, and/or, Work a tour of duty in road service on the off of their regular assignment when there are no spare engineers available, provided the following conditions are fulfilled. Engineers desiring such work will make application in writing to work a sixth shift or tour of duty in the work week. The senior engineer so available will be called when such call will not interfere, with him filling his regular assignment. An engineer who has indicated that he is available for such work will accept all such calls until he cancels his application in writing, Engineers who fail to respond to calls for any reason will not again be called for the duration of the time table unless the call was missed for reasons satisfactory to the proper officer of the company. Tour of Duty in Road Service Any tour of duty in road service shall not be considered in any way in connection with the application of the provisions of the five-day work week, nor shall service under two agreements be combined in any manner in the application of the five-day work week.   • Consecutive Days Off The Employer shall schedule consecutive days off for all full-time employees except where a full-time employee requests otherwise. Where possible, part-time employees shall have consecutive days off every second week. Where it can be demonstrated by the Shop Xxxxxxx, to the Employer’s satisfaction, that scheduling of consecutive days off can be accomplished without an adverse effect on the operation of the department, the Employer shall do so.
