SPARE BOARD. 25.01 Spare operators shall refer to regular operators on the signed spare board. All work for spare board operators shall be divided as nearly as practicable, equally among them, providing all duty reports have been made as required. Time worked voluntarily by a spare operator on their day off shall not be taken into account when leveling hours of work, nor shall such time apply against the pay guarantee. Any run that is vacant up to 1:00 p.m. the day before it is to be operated will be assigned to a spare board operator intact and any premiums applying on the regular board will vest to the spare operator filling the run. Any run that comes open after 1:00 p.m. the day before it is to be operated may be split and assigned to more than one (1) spare board operator. If no spare board operator is available it may be assigned to a volunteer first, if no volunteer is available it may be assigned to a winddown employee. If an operator signed on a regular run reports late and is subsequently assigned to other work, that operator will be booked off to provide a minimum of nine (9) hours between the completion of their assignments on that day and their next regular report. Spare board work assignment sheets will be posted and available no later than 5:00pm the day before, unless under extenuating circumstances. (a) Regular days off for spare operators will be posted at the time of posting the board for a regular sign-up. Days off will be selected and signed for by seniority and will prevail for the duration of the sign-up concerned, excepting for changes for training purposes or for compassionate reasons. (b) The City (HSR) may, at its discretion, conduct one (1) signup within the board period covered by a regular sign-up to revise days off for spare operators as selected in (a). The City (HSR) will pay six (6) hours at City (HSR) rates in effect for Job Group 10 and 10B for the additional sign-up to revise days off for spare operators. 25.03 Spare operators are guaranteed a minimum of eight (8) hours' pay daily at their prevailing rates of pay for each regular day of work and forty (40) hours' pay for each regular work week completed, provided that such operators report for work at the time or times assigned to them. It is further provided and agreed that all work obtained from the City (HSR)shall be applied to offset this minimum earning guarantee in any pay period in which it becomes necessary to apply this guarantee. SPARE BOARD. 7.1 Spare boards for employees covered by this Agreement will be maintained at Halifax, Moncton, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Vancouver and other points as may be agreed upon and classification lists shall be set up in accordance with local requirements. 7.2 A spare board classification list will have a maximum of five classifications as agreed upon between the designated corporate officer and the Local Chairperson, and will list names of senior unassigned employees (to operate on the "first-in, first-out" principle) who will be required to protect the following services: (i) Newly created temporary positions and temporary vacancies in regularly assigned positions considered to be of less than thirty (30) days' duration on a trip by trip basis. (ii) Standby or terminal duty (except as specified in Article 4.27). Standby employees required for road service after the cut-off time will be assigned in their spare board order. (iii) Relief for annual vacations, including additional layover continuous therewith. (iv) Additional monthly layover in assigned positions at home terminal (if such monthly layover has not been made part of an assignment). (v) Extra road service, including augmenting of crews. (vi) Such other work as agreed upon between the designated officer of the Corporation and the Local Chairperson. (vii) Spare work out of home terminals where spare boards are not maintained. Spare employees may be required to make a maximum of three (3) round trips out of such terminals and if held in excess of this number they shall be credited with eight (8) hours for each 24-hour period between each trip out of such home terminal in excess of three (3), and actual time up to eight (8) hours for less than a 24-hour period, such time shall be computed from expiration of eight
SPARE BOARD. 30.01 An employee failing to appear for his/her original assignment will be assigned to Spare Board, shall have the eight-hour guarantee cancelled and shall be paid only for time worked. (a) The Commission will provide a meal allowance to a Spare Board Operator when he/she, while at work, is assigned to an emergency replacement run with less than one hour off duty before he/she commences the new work assignment. A one-half hour lunch period, clear of travelling time between starting and finishing locations, will be provided without pay. (b) Any Spare Board Operator not on stand-in called out before 7:00 a.m. to cover a regular run for the day, will be entitled to a meal allowance. 30.03 Spread time for the purpose of this agreement means the period of time between commencement of the first work performed after 4:00 a.m. and the time of the termination of the last assignment in the 24-hour period. Spare Board Operators will be paid at the rate of double time for all work performed after a spread time of 12 hours. 30.04 If an Operator on Spare Board has completed eight hours on an assigned crew, he/she will not be assigned overtime. Overtime will be assigned to the Overtime List. However, an Operator on Spare Board which is on stand-in or who has operated a piece of work of up to two hours duration, may still be assigned to a regular crew.
SPARE BOARD. (a) The Spare Board shall consist of a minimum of three (3) Spare Board positions. During the months of July and August, the Spare Board shall consist of a minimum of one (1) Spare Board position. Operators on the Spare Board shall choose their work by order of Spare Board position (for example, Spare Board 1 chooses first, Spare Board 2 chooses second) during the board period. SPARE BOARD. 21.1 Employees on the spare board will be available for service seven (7) days a week on a first in, first out basis, until such time as the spare board employee accumulates forty (40) straight time hours per week on the spare board. As soon as a spare board employee accumulates his forty (40) 21.2 Once TTR has called all the spare board employees who have less than forty (40) accumulated straight time hours per week for extra assignments, temporary vacancies, and those assignments not filled through the bulletining process set forth in Article 20, it will fill overtime assignments in seniority order by those regularly assigned employees who have less than forty (40) straight time hours per week accumulated and who wish to work the extra assignments, temporary vacancies, and those assignments not filled through the bulletining process when there is no conflict with filling that employee's regular assignment. 21.3 Once it has exhausted these methods, it will then offer employees assignments on an overtime basis in seniority order. 21.4 If no one from the spare board or the regularly assigned employees is available, TTR may call persons on the auxiliary board in seniority order to fill the assignment. 21.5 When a spare board employee books off on call or misses a call, he will be off the spare board for a minimum of eight (8) hours from the assignment start time. At the expiration of eight (8) hours, TTR will place him on the bottom of the spare board. This will not preclude TTR' use of the employee prior to the expiration of eight (8) hours if there are no other employees available to work at straight time. 21.6 A spare board employee, if run around, will be entitled to eight (8) hours of pay for each run around. 21.7 Spare board will be allowed to book up to ten (10) hours rest with two (2) hour call upon completion of shift.

SPARE BOARD. The spare board is to be used to designate individuals who will be available to work overtime in cases of absenteeism among the regularly scheduled shift crews.
SPARE BOARD. The success of the "Underground Extended Shift” program depends on the co-operation of employees to request overtime work to replace individuals who are absent. This will be accomplished by means of a Spare Board which will be completed one (1) day in advance of any set of shifts. If the most junior employee volunteering for a job is not available for work for good reason, that employee must contact the Company giving the name of the qualified employee who will be replacing him on the spare board. If there are no volunteers on the spare board and if the designated employee is not available for work for good reason, the designated employee must contact the Company giving the name of the qualified employee who will be replacing him on the spare board. Co-operation in this respect is essential. Payment for time worked will be made according to hours worked each week. The spare board is to be used to designate individuals who will be available to work overtime in cases of absenteeism among the regularly scheduled shift crews.
