PAID PERSONAL LEAVE AND LONG TERM SICK LEAVE. Section 1. Earnings of Paid Personal Leave (PPL) and Long Term Sick Leave (LTSL) A. Paid Personal Leave (PPL) earnings: For each employee in active full-time pay status, ten (10) days (80 hours shall be credited to a yearly PPL account on January 2. Employees returning from a no pay status or hired after the January PPL credit period will receive prorated PPL credit based prospectively on the percentage of the year remaining in the PPL credit period in active employment. Newly hired employees may use no more than 50% of their credited PPL during their initial probationary period. Employees may use PPL in minimum increments of one tenth (1/10) of an hour. For each Stillwater employee in active full-time pay status, five (5) days (40 hours) shall be credited on January 2, and five (5) days (40 hours) shall be credited on July 1, to a PPL account. Employees returning from a no pay status or hired after the January PPL credit period will receive prorated PPL credit based prospectively on the percentage of the year remaining in the PPL credit period in active employment. Newly hired employees may use no more than 50% of their credited PPL during their initial probationary period. Employees may use PPL in minimum increments of one tenth (1/10) of an hour. B. Long Term Sick Leave (LTSL) earnings: Employees in active full time status accrue 2.77 hours of paid LTSL for each completed eighty (80) hours of service per biweekly pay period to be credited to a cumulative LTSL account. Credit is given for all time in active pay status, but not for time on leave of absence without pay. Unused LTSL shall be cumulative without limit. Employees are required to comply with the LTSL rules and policies instituted by Management. It is understood between the parties that employees failing to comply with such rules and policies shall not be paid for such leave. Application for LTSL with intent to defraud, falsification of a LTSL request and/or falsification of medical certification and/or documentation may result in dismissal as well as refund of any salary or wages paid therefore. Management may request a medical certification from an employee where there is indication of abuse of LTSL. If Management requires a second opinion from a physician of its choosing, the cost of such examination shall be paid for by the County.

For each employee in active full-time (0.9) pay status, thirty-six (36) hours shall be credited on January 2, and thirty-six (36) hours shall be credited on July 1, to a PPL account. Any unused PPL as of July 1 will rollover to the rest of the year. Example: A part-time employee actively at work on January 1, with appointment designated hours of thirty-two (32) hours per bi-weekly pay period, would be credited with sixteen (16) hours of PPL. The same employee with appointment designated hours of forty-eight (48) hours per biweekly pay period would be credited with twenty-four (24) hours of PPL. The same employee with appointment designated hours of fifty-six (56) hours per bi-weekly pay period would be credited with twenty-eight (28) hours of PPL. These same employees would receive the same half of the annual PPL credit on July 1. Employees returning from a no pay status or hired after January 1 will receive prorated PPL credit based prospectively on the percentage of the year in active employment. Newly hired employees may use no more that 50% of their credited PPL during their initial probationary period. Employees may use PPL in minimum increments of one (1) hour.

  • Extended Personal Leave Leave without pay for up to one (1) year may be granted to a teacher provided said teacher has been actively employed for five (5) continuous contract years preceding the granting of this leave and has not been granted an extended part-time leave within that period. Application for said leave shall include a statement indicating the purpose of the leave and shall be submitted, except in unusual circumstances, as determined by the District, thirty (30) days prior to the date the leave is to commence.

Nothing in this section shall be construed as giving more than three (3) personal days (to employees hired after September 1, 2011) in a given year, or more than five (5) personal days (to employees on the payroll as of September 1, 2011) in a given year. Any employee who has used one or more days leave while employed in state service shall have such time deducted from the formula contained herein

  • Unpaid Personal Leave Where an employee has exhausted all paid personal leave entitlements, they are entitled to take unpaid personal leave to care for members of their immediate family or household who are sick and require care and support or who require care due to an unexpected emergency. The employer and the employee shall agree on the period. (b) attend the funerals of family or household members or close family relatives (if compassionate leave is not available in the circumstances). 7.3.4 The leave provided for in this clause will be granted subject to the following: (a) The employee must notify the employer of the reason and likely duration of the absence before 7.00 am on the first day of the absence, unless this is not possible due to an unexpected emergency in which case the employee must notify the employer as soon as practicable. (b) Where circumstances permit, an employee must endeavour to arrange leave to minimise the impact on operational needs. (c) The provision of appropriate documentary evidence. 1. For sick leave, a medical certificate or if not reasonably practicable to provide a medical certificate- a statutory declaration made by the employee. 2. For xxxxx's leave, a medical certificate in respect to the family or household member, or a statutory declaration by the employee. 3. For compassionate leave, any evidence that the employer reasonably requires. 7.3.5 The employee is not entitled to take more than 10 days of paid xxxxx’s leave (1/26th of the nominal hours worked by the employee) per year, regardless of the amount of personal leave the employee has accumulated over time. 7.3.6 An employee may request to cash out any amount of paid personal/xxxxx’s leave that they have accrued that is excess of 3/52 of the number of nominal hours worked over the past 12 months. For example, an employee working 38 hours per week over 12 months must retain 15 days of paid personal/carer’s leave and may cash out any further personal/carer’s leave that has been accumulated. 7.3.7 In addition to the above, a request to cash out personal/xxxxx’s leave will only be granted where: (a) the employee elects to cash out their leave in writing; and (b) the employer agrees. 7.3.8 Casual Employees engaged in continuous service shall be entitled to personal leave limited to the provision of sub clause 7.3.

  • Personal Leave Days Section 1. All employees after completion of six (6) months of service shall be entitled to receive personal leave days in the following manner: (A) All full time employees shall be entitled to twenty-four (24) hours of personal leave with pay each fiscal year; (B) Part-time, seasonal, and job share employees shall be granted such leave in a prorated amount of twenty-four (24) hours based on the same percentage or fraction of month they are hired to work, or as subsequently formally modified, provided it is anticipated that they will work 1,040 hours during the fiscal year; Section 2. Should any employee fail to work 1,040 hours for the fiscal year, the value of personal leave time used may be recovered from the employee. Section 3. Personal leave shall not be cumulative from year to year nor is any unused leave compensable in any other manner. Section 4. Such leave may be used by an employee for any purpose he/she desires and may be taken at times mutually agreeable to the university and the employee.
