Long Term Sick Leave. (i) An employee with 12 months or more service with the employer, who has no unused sick leave entitlement left, may, at the employer's discretion, be granted unpaid sick leave on production of a medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner.
(ii) An employee who has been on long term sick leave shall be entitled to return to the same position and rate of pay they were employed in when long term sick leave commenced. Employees shall maintain any service entitlement accrued before the leave commenced.
Long Term Sick Leave. Upon placement of managed sick leave, or on the exhaustion of personal sick days for employees not eligible for managed sick leave, or upon placement on workers' compensation, sick/disabled employees shall be placed on long term unpaid sick leave for the duration of the verifiable disability up to the remainder of the current school year (June 30) plus two subsequent school years. The continuation of LTD shall be dependent on eligibility with the carrier and not upon the employee’s employment status with the district. When an employee is on a leave of absence for illness (short term per Section 1 or long term per this Section), the Board of Education shall continue to pay for all existing fringe benefits for a period of ninety (90) calendar days, sixty (60) work days, or (for health only) until the employee becomes eligible for MESSA LTD, whichever comes earlier, after which time the employee shall make arrangements to pay for all fringe benefits he/she wishes to keep in effect beyond this period. Seniority shall continue to accrue during the long term sick leave. Cooks and custodians shall have the right to return to their former positions for one calendar year from the commencement of the illness/disability. After one calendar year while still on leave, the employee shall have the right to return and to bump into a position within his/her former sub-classification (as identified in Appendix A.). The employee shall have the right to bump into a position held by the employee with the least seniority working in that sub-classification. Bus drivers shall have the right to return to their most recently selected positions for ninety (90) work days from commencement of the illness/disability. If the end of ninety (90) work days for bus drivers is during an academic school year, they shall have the right to return to the lowest senior position holding the same number of hours held by the driver prior to his/her long term sick leave until the end of that school year.
Long Term Sick Leave. (i) An employee with 12 months or more service with Barnardos, who has no sick leave left, shall be granted unpaid sick leave of up to three consecutive months on production of a medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner.
(ii) Barnardos, the employee and a NZEI Te Riu Roa representative and/or nominated support person shall explore the options available to the employee on completion of the unpaid sick leave entitlement granted under this clause. The parties will reach agreement on the appropriate option for the employee which may be an additional sick leave entitlement granted at the employer’s discretion.
(iii) An employee who has been on long-term sick leave shall be entitled to return to the same position and rate of pay they were employed in when long term sick leave commenced. Employees shall maintain any service entitlement accrued before the leave commenced.
Long Term Sick Leave. The payment of long term Sick Leave requires employees’ to provide medical evidence which demonstrates the ability to return to preinjury duties or suitable alternate duties. The medical evidence must define the treatment required (allowing for reasonable accommodation of medical restrictions) and the timeframe for the employee to return to work. If sufficient medical evidence is not provided, ongoing paid sick leave will be reviewed.
Long Term Sick Leave. In the case of long-term sick leave absence, the employee, upon their return will review, amend and sign all 998s submitted on their behalf during the absence.

(ii) The employer and the employee and their union representative and/or nominated support person shall explore the options available to the employee on completion of the unpaid sick leave entitlement granted under this clause. The parties will reach agreement on the appropriate option for the employee which may be an additional sick leave entitlement granted at the employer’s discretion.
(iii) An employee who has been on long term sick leave shall be entitled to return to the same position and rate of pay they were employed in when long term sick leave commenced. Employees shall maintain any service entitlement accrued before the leave commenced.
Long Term Sick Leave. 11.10.1 A permanent employee is eligible for long-term sick leave effective the first day of the extended leave provided that all paid sick leave benefits have been exhausted, three (3) consecutive days of absence occur, and a doctor's order is presented to the Human Resources Department indicating that the employee has been unable to work.
a. Subsequent absences caused by the same illness (e.g., follow-up visits to the doctor) will, upon presentation of a written doctor's excuse, be covered under extended leave even if the absence is for less than three (3) days.
11.10.2 Up to 100 days of paid, long-term sick leave in addition to those required by the Sick Leave section (11.5) of this article shall be compensated at not less than fifty percent (50%) of the employee's regular salary. The paid sick leave authorized under this section shall be exclusive of any other paid leave, holidays, vacation, or compensating time to which the employee may be entitled.
Long Term Sick Leave. After completing the review and summarizing the results, the department head shall meet with the employee and discuss the leave usage problem. The summarized information should be presented to the employee and he/she should be given the opportunity to explain any special or extenuating circumstances that would account for the high level of leave usage. If the absences can be documented to the satisfaction of the department head, then no further action need be taken, except that the reasons for the absences, the summary data, and the prospect for future occurrences of a similar type should be documented. This information should be retained by the department head with a copy to Human Resources.
Long Term Sick Leave. Leave for a serious health condition and health restoration will be granted in accordance with District’s FMLA policy.
Long Term Sick Leave shall be defined as hours of sick leave additional to those provided in paragraph 1.
(a) Benefits shall be 100% of the regular classified salary.
(b) The Corporation shall pay 100% of the cost of long term sick leave offset in part by the employer‐employee rebates of unemployment insurance premiums as agreed to in Article XIII, Section 13.01.
(c) Accumulated upon the completion of three (3) months’ service.
(d) Benefits shall be made available as follows:
(i) The next 630 hours (or equivalent hours equal to 15 weeks dependent on regular weekly hours) of any absence due to illness or non‐occupational injury;
(ii) Following the entitlements in (d)(i) above, for each year’s service, an allotment of 252 hours’ accumulation (or equivalent hours equal to 6 weeks dependent on regular weekly hours) to a total of 2,520 hours (or equivalent hours equal to 60 weeks dependent on regular weekly hours).
(e) When the sick leave hours provided pursuant to (d)(i) above are used in their entirety, they are accumulated again if the employee is back to work for one (1) month (184 continuous hours, or such other number of continuous hours, dependent upon regular weekly hours of work, equivalent to one (1) month).
