The allowance of Nurse 2-8 (Registered Nurse / Registered Midwife) Master’s degree or doctorate has increased from 5% to 5.5% of the maximum pay point of the Nurse 2 classification.
Post Graduate Allowance. An employee who obtains a relevant Post Graduate Qualification shall be paid an allowance on the completion of 12 months service with Sunrise Health Service as per the following:  They have obtained a Graduate Diploma or higher tertiary qualification;  They have obtained a hospital based certificate prior to the introduction of Graduate Diploma courses;  The Post Graduate qualification must be equivalent to at least a twelve month part time post graduate course;  In the case of registered midwives, the qualifying period of 12 months service is waived. The amount of the allowance will be $2,517.92 per annum commencing from the first pay period commencing on or after 1st January 2015 and for the life of this agreement. The allowance shall be paid fortnightly and will:  Be paid to a part time employee on a pro rata basis for their part time contracted hours;  Be paid during approved periods of paid leave (eg sick leave, recreation leave, long service leave, emergency leave, maternity leave and bereavement leave);  Be recognised for superannuation purposes;  Not be included in calculations of overtime or penalty rates;  Apply only once to an employee no matter how many post graduate qualifications have been gained;  Not be paid during leave without pay or leave not authorised.

The allowance will be paid fortnightly and will: (a) be paid to a part-time employee on a pro rata basis based upon their agreed hours; (b) be paid during approved periods of paid leave; (c) be recognised for superannuation purposes; (d) not be included in calculation of overtime or penalty rates; (e) be paid only once to an employee irrespective of how many post graduate qualifications the employee holds; (f) not be paid during periods where the employee performs higher duties outside of the relevant work area; and (g) not be paid during leave without pay or during periods of leave which have not been authorised.

Post Graduate Allowance. (i) A Registered Nurse who holds an Employer-approved post-graduate diploma or a degree (other than a nursing undergraduate degree) and that qualification is relevant to the duties being performed in a particular shift shall be paid an additional allowance of 6.5% (based on the employee’s ordinary hourly rate) for that shift. (ii) A Registered Nurse who holds an Employer-approved Masters, or a Doctorate and that qualification is relevant to the duties being performed in a particular shift shall be paid in addition to their salary, an additional allowance of 7.5% (based on the employee's ordinary hourly rate) for that shift. (iii) A Registered Nurse who holds an Employer-approved, post-graduate certificate or equivalent and that qualification is relevant to the duties being performed in a particular shift shall be paid in addition to their salary, an additional allowance of 4% (based on the employee's ordinary hourly rate) for that shift. (iv) Only one qualification allowance at any time applies for each Registered Nurse. It must be demonstrated that the qualification is relevant to the Employee’s current area of practice and is being utilised. The post-graduate allowance shall be taken into account in the calculation of overtime and annual leave payments. For the purpose of this clause "Employer- approved” qualifications are Perioperative or Perioperative with anesthetics and Reproductive Medicine.
Post Graduate Allowance. (a) An employee who obtains a relevant post graduate qualification and who works in an area relevant to that post graduate qualification shall be paid an allowance while they continue to be employed in that relevant area. The allowance to be paid is: (b) Post Registration Bachelor of Nursing 4% (i.e. the RN must have hospital certificate then Complete Bachelor of Nursing post registration) Graduate Certificate 4% (c) The Post Graduate Allowance will be paid from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2004 for existing qualifications and from the date of receipt of formal acknowledgment of relevant qualifications obtained after the operative date of this Agreement. (d) Provided that only one allowance under this clause shall be payable to an employee at any one time. (e) The Post Graduate allowance shall be taken into account in the calculation of overtime and annual leave payments.
Post Graduate Allowance. There is no change to this clause and it is the same wording from the current clause 26.
