Posting of Vacancies/Promotions. Job vacancies within the bargaining unit will be posted for a period of five (5) working days prior to being filled provided the City has at least two (2) weeks notice of vacancy occurring, otherwise, three (3) working days, setting forth the minimum requirements for the position. Employees who may be interested in applying for a posted vacancy/promotion shall apply for such job(s) to the Human Resources Department via the use of the online Human Resources Information System within the posting period. Bargaining unit employees shall be given preference over other City employees and external candidates. The City agrees that when a job vacancy occurs and has been posted within the prescribed time limitations, the City will select the qualified bargaining unit applicant and reclassify the selectee within thirty (30) days unless extenuating circumstances exist and both parties agree to extend the limitations. If no qualified bargaining unit candidate is available from within the unit, the City may select another City employee or hire from outside in which the time limits will be extended.

Posting of Vacancies/Promotions. In the event of a permanent promotional vacancy, a notice shall be posted on the bulletin board in the Fire Department for five (5) days. The notice shall set forth the basic work requirements of the job, minimum qualifications and the rate of pay. All promotions in this unit, except for the position of Lieutenant, will be filled on the basis of seniority. The Lieutenants position will be filled using a testing procedure as outlined below. All positions will be subject to a 6 month probationary period. During this probationary period, the employee may revert back to their former job classification. If the employee is unsatisfactory in the new position, notice and a description of the unsatisfactory performance will be submitted to the employee in writing. Job Postings A. Vacancies for Non-tested positions will be posted when the position becomes open or it is known that the position will become open, i.e. the employee currently in the position has signed and been awarded a new position. B. Tested positions will be posted on the bulletin board in the Fire Department for five (5) days. All interested candidates for tested positions must submit a cover letter and resume to the Fire Chief by the closing date of the posting. Content of the resume and cover letter will not be used to disqualify a candidate from testing, but will be evaluated during testing.   • Posting of Vacancies Before any vacancy is posted, any displaced teacher with proper certification shall fill said vacancy. Vacancies shall be posted in accordance with the following: A. Vacancies occurring between the end of the school year and August 5 shall be posted in accordance with the following provisions: 1. The Superintendent will prepare lists of vacancies to be posted and filled. Such posting shall occur within five (5) workdays of the date the vacancy is known. 2. Applications for vacancies shall be submitted to the Superintendent within five (5) workdays of the date which appears on the posting. A copy of all postings will be given to the NEA President. Employees shall be notified of any openings via their work email and posted on the district’s website. 3. Each notice of vacancy shall clearly set forth the title of the position, qualifications for the position, grade level (if known), duties, salary, procedure for application, the deadline for submitting the application, and the person to whom the application is to be submitted. The notice is subject to change as the needs of the school system change, but any change shall result in the reposting of the position(s) unless otherwise mutually agreed upon by the Superintendent and NEA President. 4. All vacancies and assignments are subject to change due to decrease in enrollment, reassignment of students, and/or school closings. 5. The position shall be filled no later than ten (10) workdays after the posting period. This shall apply when the position is being filled by an employee. B. Existing position(s) that become vacant after the August Board Meeting shall be awarded to the most senior bargaining unit member who is on the recall list, provided he/she possesses the proper certification/licensure, if comparable evaluations. Evaluation ratings shall be the determining factor governing the selection of the recalled employee. They shall remain in the position for the school year, or whatever portion of the year is remaining. 1. Any bargaining unit member on the recall list who possesses the proper certification/licensure for the vacancy and who is offered a position after the start of the school year and declines the position will not lose his/her recall rights. 2. The Board may, absent a properly certified/licensed individual on the recall list, or if there is a properly certified/licensed individual on the recall list who declines the position after the start of the school year, hire a new employee or a substitute to fill the vacancy for the school year, or whatever portion of the year remains. C. Vacancies that are filled under the provisions of Section 6.032 B of the Agreement shall be posted for the ensuing school year no later than April 15 of each school year unless extenuating circumstances arise in which the posting will be made as soon as practicable. The posting(s) shall adhere to the provisions set forth in Section 6.032 A. 2. through A. 5. of the Agreement. D. For all newly created positions while schools are in session the following shall apply: 1. The Superintendent will prepare lists of vacancies to be posted and filled in all schools as such vacancies occur. Such posting shall occur within five (5) workdays of the date the vacancy is known. 2. While schools are in session, all vacancies shall be posted in all buildings for a period of five (5) workdays. 3. When schools are in session, applications for vacancies shall be submitted to the Superintendent within five (5) workdays of the date which appears on the posting. Sufficient copies of the postings shall be made available to all NEA building representatives. During the summer months, when schools are not in session, employees shall be notified of any openings via their work email and posted on the District’s website. 4.   • Posting and Filling of Vacancies 8.1(1) When a permanent vacancy occurs within a classification covered by this agreement, which the Employer intends to fill, after the Employer applies the internal job transfer bidding procedure and the ultimate vacancy is thereby identified, such vacancy shall be advertised for ten (10) calendar days provided that nothing herein shall prevent the Employer from advertising such vacancy throughout its system or outside during the ten (10) day period. Probationary employees may, at the sole discretion of the Employer, be considered for another position outside their classification after the signing date of this agreement. The Company reserves the sole and absolute right to carry out any applicable interviewing or testing that is necessary in its opinion. All test processes will be approved by qualified Human Resources staff. An employee will only be allowed to take one test failure for each different job classification bid every four (4) months. Current employees applying for positions which involve increased driving responsibilities must meet corporate driving standards and provide with application a current driving abstract. The opinion of the Employer shall not be exercised in an arbitrary or discriminatory manner. 8.1(2) Internal Job Transfer Bidding Procedure 8.1(3) This internal job transfer bidding procedure is within a given classification as follows: 8.1(4) All employees within each classification, when requested, must submit a “standing application” to transfer to any existing alternate home base or location, shift, shift hours, days off (in order of preference), to transfer from part-time to full-time status, or to indicate that they wish no change, whichever is applicable to each individual within their current classification. 8.1(5) A copy of such standing application submitted will be furnished to the employee. Since a standing application will remain valid indefinitely until it results in action or is replaced by the employee, it is the responsibility of the employee to ensure that a standing application always reflects the employee’s current preferences. 8.1(6) (i) When a permanent classification position vacancy is to be filled, all standing applications will immediately be reviewed with the intention of awarding transfers (including any “resultant” transfers) in order of classification seniority in the following sequence, where applicable: (a) transfer of a full-time employee from one home base or location to another or as referred to above; (b) transfer of an employee from part-time to full- time status; (c) transfer of part-time employees from one home base or location to another or as referred to above; and (d) transfer of full-time employees to part-time.

  • VACANCIES, PROMOTIONS AND TRANSFERS A. Whenever a teacher is interested in being considered for assignment to any professional position in the district, he/she shall file written notice of his/her interest to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. The Board declares its intention to give full consideration to present staff members in all vacancies in which they have expressed an interest. 1. It is agreed that any vacancy occurring during the current school year shall only be filled on a temporary basis for the remainder of that school year. By May 1 of each year, a list of all vacancies shall be posted in a designated area in each administrative unit. Any teacher with proper qualifications may, within seven (7) calendar days of May 1 and all subsequent postings until August 1 of each year, apply for and shall be granted an interview before such vacancy is filled, with the exception of when reductions in grade levels/subject areas occur in a building allowing first right of refusal to displaced staff for any open positions in his/her individual building. Vacant positions will be posted for three (3) work days after August 1 and prior to the first reported student instructional day of each year. 2. Any teacher requesting transfer between administrative units shall notify the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources by April 30 for transfer in the subsequent year. Involuntary transfers within a building will occur prior to extending consideration to voluntary transfer requests. Before vacancies are filled, the qualifications of each teacher who has requested transfer shall be reviewed. 3. It is agreed that any teacher making written request to be assigned a position whose FTE is less than their current assignment has no guarantee of a future increase in FTE except as provided by the process defined elsewhere in this Article. 4. A vacancy shall be defined for purposes of this contract as a position presently unfilled, one to be open in the future or a new position, and which has no teacher on leave of absence or layoff status with the claim to the position. B. Since the frequent transfer of teachers from one school and/or grade level to another is disruptive to the educational process and interferes with optimum teacher performance, the parties agree that unrequested transfers of teachers are to be minimized.

Vacancies which occur during June, July, and August shall be posted for only four (4) work days. If no one is chosen from that school, then the vacancy will be advertised county wide for an additional five (5) work days. 10.3 If positions are not properly advertised within the provisions of Article X, the Association may file a grievance at Step 2 of the grievance provision. 10.4 Applicants selected for interviews shall be from the pool of certified and qualified applicants only. Certified: Hold a valid in-field Florida temporary or professional certificate that matches the certification(s) required for the position being advertised. Qualified: Anyone using the High Objective Uniform State Standard of Evaluation (HOUSSE) plan to qualify must meet the criteria outlined in School Board policy and match the certification required for the position being advertised. Alternately, state-certified teachers may also be required to "qualify" for positions by holding additional endorsements such as ESOL, Reading, and Gifted. Exception: Applicants applying for positions that require district-granted CTE certification (non-transferable) need not hold that certification prior to being selected for an interview but must meet the minimum criteria outlined in the district's Process for Granting District CTE Certificates.

  • Posting Vacancies 1 The principal shall be responsible for notifying the Department of Human Resources of vacancies that are open at their school as soon as they are known.

  • Notification of Vacancies A laid off employee shall be notified by certified mail of an appropriate vacancy, sent to the employee’s address on file in the office of the Executive Director for Human Resources Management. An employee’s failure to respond affirmatively in writing within five calendar days after receipt of the Employer’s letter shall cause loss of recall rights.

  • Filling of Vacancies The Employer will continue with the current practice regarding job postings. Notices of position vacancies which occur within the bargaining unit which cannot be filled by a qualified surplus employee shall be posted on the District’s website using the on-line application system. Upon written request, all job postings will be distributed to the concerned affiliate local union. The Employer shall not fill any vacancy with a substitute employee for longer than fifty (50) work days except that this fifty (50) work days, shall become sixty (60) work days for the months of May, June, July and August; provided however, this sixty (60) work day period shall not in any event extend beyond October 31 of any year. This section shall apply to all employees covered by this Agreement unless modified in the attached appendices. Section 5.3.1 In order to become eligible for consideration of a position vacancy, an employee shall submit a completed position application form to the district Human Resource Office within the designated open period. Section 5.3.2 Employees interviewed and not selected for a position in the bargaining classifications contained herein shall be notified of their non-selection prior to the selectee’s first day of work in the position for which they had applied. Section 5.3.3 The employee with the earliest seniority date who is fully qualified to perform the work involved and who has fulfilled the requirements as set forth in Section 5.3.1, shall fill the vacant position when ability and performance are substantially equal to those who sought the vacancy by complying with those same requirements. Where it can be clearly substantiated that either a junior employee who has applied or an employment applicant possesses a greater ability and prior work performance record, the Employer may then fill the position with such person in which case the Employer shall set forth to the person and the union in writing upon written request from a senior eligible applicant, the reasons why that senior person was not placed into the position vacancy. Such factors as poor attendance and poor work performance shall be considered by the Employer in administering this section. This section shall apply to all employees covered by this Agreement unless modified in the attached appendices. Section 5.3.3.1 When an incumbent employee is promoted or assumes a new position; the employee may be placed on trial for thirty (30) workdays until the employee proves themselves capable of handling the new position. Before the completion of the thirty (30) day period, either the employee or the administrator may determine that the assignment is not acceptable. If such determination is made, the employee shall return to the position held immediately prior to the assumption of the new position except as may be modified in attached appendices. Section 5.3.3.2 Should, in accordance with Section 5.3.3.1, an employee return or be returned to the position they previously held, the employee who is displaced will be placed back into their former position. If the former position was as a substitute, the displaced employee will be placed back as a substitute. Employees subject to such change in placement/assignment will be given at least ten (10) days’ notice prior to the effective date of the change. Section 5.3.4 When two (2) employees subject to this Agreement are moved as the result of one initial posted vacancy, subsequent vacancies which may occur, shall be filled at the discretion of the Employer; provided, however, all custodial lead positions shall be subject to the position application procedures set forth herein.

  • Scheduling of Vacation A) The Employer shall permit annual vacations to be taken during the entire year. B) The scheduling of vacations shall be subject to the operational requirements of the Employer. C) The selection of vacation and the posting of the approved vacation schedule shall be completed by December 31st of the preceding calendar year or any other date mutually agreed at the local level. Such local agreements shall be filed with the Union and Employer. D) Once the approved vacation schedule has been posted, it shall only be changed by mutual consent. E) Vacation entitlement accrued to June 30 (inclusive) shall be taken prior to January 1 in the following year unless otherwise required by operational necessity. Despite the above, where an employee’s vacation is cancelled by the Employer due to operational requirements, the employee may elect to carry over up to seven (7) days to be used no later than June 30 in the following year. Unused vacation shall be paid out at straight time rates by the last pay period of February of the following year. Payout shall not include any carryover of vacation pursuant to the above. F) Employees may, prior to the scheduling of vacations, request to have their vacations scheduled in accordance with either the principle of seniority or on a rotating basis. Where a consensus of employees cannot be reached as above, vacations shall be scheduled according to seniority on the basis that the employees with the most seniority shall have the first choice of vacation times. Employees failing to exercise their rights within the vacation selection time posted by the Employer shall forfeit their seniority rights in respect to choice of vacation time. G) Vacation time may be divided and shall be scheduled at a time mutually agreeable to the employee and the Employer, however, an employee who splits her vacation shall not receive her choice of when she wishes to take the subsequent portion of her vacation until all other employees in the unit or xxxx have made their first choice of vacation time.

  • VACANCIES, TRANSFERS AND PROMOTIONS A. As it relates to individual employees who are not regulated by the Teacher Tenure Act, a vacancy is defined as a newly created position or a current position in the bargaining unit which the Board intends to fill which has become open due to death, reassignment, retirement, resignation or dismissal of an employee. Such positions will not be posted until all teachers are assigned. 1. The above vacancies shall be posted online and via school email to all staff. 2. Positions as described above shall be posted at least ten (10) business days prior to being permanently filled, unless the vacancy occurs and is posted within ten (10) business days of the first official teacher work day of the school year. In that case, the posting period will be five (5) business days. 3. Any employee may apply for such positions by submitting a written letter to the Superintendent's Office. 4. After the last instructional day of the year, the Board shall post vacancies at the Superintendent’s Office. An employee with a request for a transfer on file under D. below or who has requested summer vacancy notices under C. below will be notified. B. As it relates to individual employees who are not regulated by the Teacher Tenure Act, an employee desiring to learn of position vacancies that occur during the summer shall leave self-addressed, stamped envelopes in the Personnel Office. Application for and filling of such summer vacancies shall follow the procedures in B. above. C. As it relates to individual employees who are not regulated by the Teacher Tenure Act, a request by an employee for transfer to a different building or position may be made at any time. Such request shall be made in writing to the Personnel Office with a copy to the Association President. The application shall set forth the school, grade or position sought, and the applicant's qualifications. Such request shall be reviewed twice each year to assure active consideration by the Board. In the event an employee is granted a transfer, the record of the transfer and any pertinent information related to the transfer shall be placed into the employee’s personnel file. No employee will be discriminated against because of a request to transfer.
