Professional Learning and Development. ‌ 14.1. Principals are encouraged and will be supported by the Employer in their professional learning, including by way of self-reflection in their day to day work, collaboration with colleagues, discussion with leaders and pursuing research or studies in their own time. 14.2. The Employer shares a responsibility for professional learning and will provide a range of professional learning opportunities for Principals.

(c) Where the Employer has concerns that a Proficient Teacher may not be meeting the standard for maintenance of accreditation, including in relation to the completion of required professional development, the Employer will advise the Teacher of this and the specific standard descriptors considered inadequate, in a timely manner. The representative of the Employer will meet with the Teacher to develop a plan to support the Teacher to maintain Proficient Teacher standard.

Professional Learning and Development. 82.1 The parties are committed to the implementation of a comprehensive professional learning and development agenda for employees. From 2023, all government schools will have an additional pupil free day on last day of Term 4 of each year. The additional pupil free day will provide teachers time to come together with their school leadership teams to undertake curriculum mapping and prepare teaching and learning programs aligned with their annual school improvement plan and school improvement agenda. Principals have flexibility to utilise the additional day at any point throughout the year. For example, they may opt to run planning workshops a few days after hours throughout the year, or they may choose to do half day planning on weekends. If the planning is conducted ahead of last day of Term 4, teachers will be entitled to that day in lieu of the additional hours taken to participate in the planning/ workshops facilitated by their school leadership team. Schools will be required to provide evidence of the planning day to department with a clear intention of the time focused on school improvement
Professional Learning and Development. To support the learning, growth, and retention of our educational leaders, the Othello School District is committed to providing financial assistance to members of OAA through a tuition reimbursement program. The district will allocate funds to support up to four OAA members per year, with each member eligible for up to $3,000 in tuition reimbursement. This financial support can be used towards a district-approved doctoral program or certification. The application and approval process for the tuition reimbursement will be a collaborative effort between the OAA and the district. This ensures fair access to funds among all eligible members.
