Upgrading Qualifications. Where the Employer requires an employee to upgrade their skills or qualifications in order to operate or maintain new equipment, the cost of training and normal living and travel expenses as laid down in this agreement will be borne by the Employer.

Upgrading Qualifications. (a) Where the Employer requires employees to upgrade their skills or qualifications in order to operate or maintain new equipment, the cost of training and normal living and travel expenses as laid down in this Agreement will be borne by the Employer. (b) When training is available during regular work hours, the employee shall attend during regular work hours. Such training time will be considered as time worked and the employee's regular rate of pay shall be maintained throughout the training period. Seniority and vacation will also accrue.
Upgrading Qualifications. The College agrees to pay the full cost of any courses of instruction, required by the College, for an employee to better qualify that employee to perform his job. Full cost shall include travel expenses, accommodation and subsistence, and the employee shall suffer no loss of salary.

Upgrading Qualifications. ‌ (a) The Commission may require an employee to upgrade their skills or qualifications. In such a situation the cost of training and normal living and travel expenses, as laid down in this Agreement, will be borne by the Commission. (b) In order to encourage job-related self-improvement, the Commission may contribute to the cost of educational or training courses at recognized institutions. The degree of financial participation will depend on the value or appropriateness of the proposed course to the employee's present job or to their future growth. In cases where the proposed course is related to their ability to perform their present job, the Commission may subsidize up to 100% of the costs. If the course relates to the employee's future growth and/or promotional prospects within the Commission, up to 100% of the costs may be subsidized. Any regular employee, who has completed their probationary period, may apply in writing for educational assistance covering enrolment, tuition, examination fees and books, plus travel and living costs where appropriate. Applications for assistance shall be submitted before registering for the course. Normally, reimbursement will be made on evidence of satisfactory completion of the course, although in special cases of financial need, the Commission will consider earlier reimbursement. Requests under this article shall be approved or denied within 30 days. (c) If an employee voluntarily terminates employment within 18 months of receiving educational assistance, they will be required to repay the amount of the assistance, to a maximum of $1,000, or 50% of the cost to the Employer, whichever is greater, on a pro rata basis except in the case where the Commission directed the employee to take the educational course. (d) An education advisory committee shall meet as required throughout the year to review and make recommendations on educational policy and courses. The Committee will be made up of an equal number of union and employer representatives shall meet no less than three times per year at the request of either party and time spent at meetings will be on the work time. The Employer will determine the overall budget and cost related issues.

Any regular employee, who has completed his/her probationary period, may apply in writing for educational assistance covering enrollment, tuition, examination fees and books, plus travel and living costs where appropriate. Applications for assistance should be submitted before registering for the course. Normally, reimbursement will be made on evidence of satisfactory completion of the course, although in special cases of financial need, the Employer may consider earlier reimbursement. If an employee voluntarily terminates employment within eighteen (18) months of receiving educational assistance, he/she will be required to repay the amount of the assistance.
Upgrading Qualifications. B.4.1 When a teacher completes all the requirements for raising his/her salary category previous to September 1 of any year, he/she shall be paid the higher category rate subject to the provisions of this Collective Agreement, effective September 1 of that year on the condition that the new Statement of Evaluation is filed with the Board by December 31 or, if this is impossible through no fault of the teacher, that a “Notice of Expected Change in Category” along with an explanation of the delay in filing the new Statement of Evaluation is filed with the Board by December 1 of that year. B.4.2 When a teacher completes all the requirements for raising his/her salary category previous to January 1 of any year, he/she shall be paid the higher category rate subject to the provisions of this Collective Agreement, effective January 1 of that year on the condition that the new Statement of Evaluation is filed with the Board by May 31 or, if this is impossible through no fault of the teacher, that a “Notice of Expected Change in Category” along with an explanation of the delay in filing the new Statement of Evaluation is filed with the Board by May 1 of that year.

Upgrading Qualifications a) It is the responsibility of the Occasional Teacher to notify the Board in writing of an improvement in qualifications. b) Retroactive salary adjustments to September 1st, or to the beginning of a Long Term Occasional Assignment if after September 1st, to reflect improved qualifications, will only be effected provided that the new Statement of Evaluation is filed with the Board by December 31st, or, if this is impossible, through no fault of the Teacher, that a “notice of expected change” along with an explanation of the delay is filed with the Board by December 1 of that year and documentary evidence that the qualifications used for the upgrading were acquired prior to September 1 of each school year. c) When an Occasional Teacher, who is on a Long Term Occasional Assignment, has completed the requirements for raising his/her salary category after September 1st of the year of assignment and notification of improvement of qualifications is received after January 1 but prior to June 30th, salary shall be retroactive to January 1st, or to the date at which improvement of qualifications was completed, whichever comes later.
