Representation and Union Business‌. 4:01 The Employer recognizes the Union’s right to select stewards to represent employees. 4:02 The Union shall determine the number of stewards and the jurisdictions of each xxxxxxx having regard to the plan of organization, the distribution of employees at the workplace, and the administrative structure implied by the Grievance Procedure. 4:03 The Union agrees to provide the Employer with a list of stewards and other elected representatives immediately after any changes, new elections, and pursuant to the ratification of this Agreement and the Employer shall be required to recognize only those stewards and staff representatives of whom it has notice. 4:04 The Employer agrees to provide a suitable bulletin board for postings by the Union at each work location. The Employer reserves the right to request the removal of posted material if considered damaging to the Employer and the Union agrees to comply with this request 4:05 A representative of the Union will be granted up to fifteen (15) minutes to familiarize a new employee with the Union and this Agreement during the period of orientation. 4:06 The Union recognizes that each Xxxxxxx is employed by the Employer and that they will not leave their work during working hours except to perform 4:07 The duties of the stewards shall be to investigate complaints of an urgent nature and to investigate and present grievances in accordance with the grievance procedure. If an employee’s individual request for assistance in resolving a conflict does not result in a resolution with the assistance of their supervisor, the Xxxxxxx shall assist in resolving differences which may arise out of the interpretation, application, operation or alleged violation of a provision of this Agreement, as outlined in the Grievance Procedure. 4:08 For complaints of an urgent nature, a xxxxxxx shall first obtain the permission of their immediate supervisor before leaving their work to investigate such complaint with the employee and supervisor concerned. Such permission shall not be unreasonably sought or withheld. On resuming their normal duties, the xxxxxxx shall notify their supervisor. 4:09 When it is necessary for a xxxxxxx to investigate a complaint or grievance during working hours, no deduction in salary shall be made from the xxxxxxx or employee concerned, provided that each has obtained approval from their supervisor(s) for the time required to deal with the complaint or grievance. 4:10 Stewards and employees shall not normally ...

Representation and Union Business‌. Neither IUPA representatives nor unit employees shall leave their posts or work stations for the purpose of investigating, presenting, handling or settling grievances without the express permission of their Shift Commander. IUPA Executive Officers may contact employees or other persons concerning grievance matters or IUPA business during either the working hours of the IUPA Executive Officers or the working hours of any employee sought to be contacted without the express prior permission of the Shift Commanders of the employees involved provided it does not interfere with work.
