Sick Leave Credit and Accumulation. (a) Each teacher shall be credited with twenty (20) days of sick leave on the first working day of the school year. The unused balance of the twenty (20) days of sick leave shall be accumulated at the end of the school year to the teacher's sick leave account. The sick leave credits for each teacher will be carried forward to the Board from the boards in existence prior to January 1, 1998.

The sick leave credits for each teacher will be carried forward to the Board from the boards in existence prior to January Notwithstanding (a) above with respect to the twenty day sick leave credit on the first day of the school year, where a teacher exhausts his or her sick leave accumulation and remains on unpaid sick leave, no further sick leave credits shall be credited until such time as the teacher returns to active duty. Teachers who commence employment during the school year shall be credited with a pro-rated number of sick leave days. Notwithstanding Article the sick leave account for each teacher shall be debited one day for each day of absence due to illness. Such debits will be made first from the twenty days of sick leave credited for the school year during which the absence takes place and, upon the exhaustion of the days, debits shall be made from any accumulation in the teacher’s sick leave account. During such absence, until the sick leave accumulation and account are exhausted, each teacher shall receive normal salary and benefits. The maximum balance of unused sick leave which may be carried forward at the end of one school year to the teacher’s sick leave account for the following September will be days. Medical or Dental certification with respect to payment for absence under the Sick Leave Plan shall be provided by the teacher upon the request by the Director or designate. Such costs for medical certification required by the Board shall be paid by the Board. No sick leave credits shall be accrued by a teacher on a leave of absence without pay for a continuous period of four weeks or more. Notwithstanding Article deductions shall be made from the sick leave plan where a teacher is unable to work due to personal illness, accident or disability. All sick leave credit, accumulation and deductions under this plan shall be pro-rated accordingly for part-time employees. It is agreed that, when a teacher is eligible for and receives approval of claim by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario:
Sick Leave Credit and Accumulation. From and after July 1, 1996, all employees shall be given credit for one hundred and forty-four (144) unearned, but usable sick leave hours. These hours will be placed in a usable bank to be utilized first by the employee in the case of illness. Employees in their first year of employment shall receive a prorated usable bank equal to the rate of twelve (12) hours per full month remaining in the fiscal year for twenty-four (24) hour employees and eight (8) hours for full months remaining in the fiscal year for eight (8) and ten (10) hour employees. Employees shall not be eligible to accrue, utilize or receive credit for any sick leave benefits while on layoff, disability leave outlined in Article 10.04, or an unpaid leave of absence of thirty (30) consecutive calendar days or more. For those employees who terminate the employment relationship between the employee and the City prior to the end of the fiscal year, any unearned, but used sick leave hours shall be reimbursed, by the employee, to the City, through a deduction from the last paycheck or termination payout received by the employee.

  • Sick Leave Credit All employees shall be able to draw on a block of six (6) days sick leave when they commence employment. If all or part of this block of sick leave is used it will be paid back as sick leave is accumulated. If an employee ceases employment and has a negative balance in sick leave credit, this amount will be deducted from his/her final paycheque.

  • Sick Leave Credits Regular employees who have completed their probationary period will accrue sick leave credits at the rate of one day per month to a maximum of 156 days. Upon completion of their probationary period, an employee will be credited with sick leave back to the employee's starting date. Upon request, an employee will be advised in writing of the balance of their sick leave credits.

  • Vacation Accumulation (a) Vacations are not cumulative from year to year.
