Sick Leave Grants. Employees may donate a portion of their sick leave accrual to another employee who suffers an extensive illness or accident on an equal hour for an hour basis through a direct grant. Direct Grant Defined: A direct grant is defined as the extension to an employee of up to 160 hours of sick leave in a 12 month period which is donated by other Havre School District employees subject to this Agreement, for the specific use of the employee. The District agrees to post on the employee bulletin board when an employee is in need of a grant and at what point they will become eligible for one. The posting shall remain active for 20 calendar days. Direct Grant Criteria & Limitations: Employees may make a direct grant of sick leave to an employee who is suffering from an extended illness or accident that results in an absence from work of at least 10 consecutive days. To be eligible to make a direct grant, an employee must have: • completed the 90 day qualifying period for use of sick leave • have a minimum balance of 40 hours of accrued sick leave following the contribution. An employee may grant a maximum of 40 hours of sick leave in a 12 month period through the direct grant program. The 12 month period is calculated from the first day an employee makes a direct grant. All contributions are irrevocable, except donations that exceed the amount being requested, which will be returned to the donor. An employee may receive a direct grant of sick leave to provide necessary care of or attendance to an immediate family member until other attendance can reasonably be obtained. An employee may receive no more than a maximum of 160 hours of sick leave in any continuous 12 month period in direct grants. The 12 month period is calculated from the first day the employee takes sick leave which is a direct grant. An employee must meet the following criteria to be eligible to receive a direct grant:

Sick Leave Grants. Each full-time employee shall be granted twelve (12) days per year with full pay for absence due to personal illness or injury. Maximum accumulated days shall be 240, including leave of the current year. Any employee who is appointed after July 1 of each fiscal year shall be credited with one day of sick leave for each full month left in the fiscal year. At the beginning of each fiscal year (July 1) each employee shall be advised of his accumulated sick leave credit.

  • Sick Leave Incentive Effective September 1, 1986, employees covered by this Agreement, hired on or after October 1, 1977, who are not entitled to disability leave under State Statute R.C.W. 41.26, shall be eligible for the following sick leave incentive program:

  • Sick Leave Pay A Nurse granted sick leave shall be paid for the period of such leave at her or his regular hourly rate of pay and the number of hours thus paid shall be deducted from the accumulated sick leave credits of the Nurse.

  • Sick Leave Bonus For every six (6) months of perfect sick leave attendance after July 1, 1987, the employee will receive eight (8) hours of bonus time. This bonus time will be prorated for part-time employees. Such bonus time can be used for any leave purpose covered by this Agreement. Such bonus time shall be counted as vacation leave credits for purposes of determining eligibility for carry- over and cash payments.

  • Sick Leave Payout No cash payment for unused sick leave will be paid to any employee leaving the service of the Employer.

  • Sick Leave The employee is eligible for long term disability benefits if provided for in the Collective Agreement. An employee will not receive pay for the first two (2) weeks of any period of absence due to a legitimate illness. The employee may utilize the paid holiday bank as income replacement for absences due to illness, as described in Article (c) above. An employee who is eligible may apply for Employment Insurance for weeks three (3) through seventeen (17) for any absence due to a legitimate illness. The Home will provide the employee with Disability Income Protection as per Article 14.01 (c) for weeks eighteen (18) through thirty (30) for any absence due to a legitimate illness. Employees may be required to provide medical proof of illness for any absence of a scheduled shift, which is neither vacation nor an approved leave of absence.

  • Sick Leave Pool a. The Sick Leave Pool is intended to provide security to supplement other insurance benefits by allowing employees to "buy" insurance for extended illness, or other disability. Pool Days may be used to "make an employee whole" if disability or Workers' Compensation benefits are less than normal base pay. When "buying" Pool Days, employees convert Earned Time days on a 1:3 basis. Similar to purchasing insurance, the employee may pick a given number of days to exchange for coverage in case of extended disability.

  • Sick Leaves a. After the first year of full-time employment, a full-time faculty member who, by reason of personal illness or a medically certified disability is incapable of performing the regular duties of a faculty member, shall be entitled to a sick leave, with full pay (in lieu of contract salary which otherwise would be earned), for a period not to exceed six months. In no event, however, shall the University’s payment for sick leave exceed one-half (1/2) of the faculty member’s then prevailing annual contract salary. If the faculty member receives governmental disability benefits and/or workers’ compensation benefits during the period of absence, the faculty member shall be paid the difference between the benefits received and the benefits provided above.

  • SICK LEAVE OF ABSENCE 25.01 Employees, who are permitted to go home due to non- occupational illness or injury, will not be paid for the remainder of their shift.

  • Sick Leave Payment Any employee, at his/her option may choose to receive payment for sick leave earned during the year which is unused at the end of the year. Any such payment must be for the total number of unused sick leave hours earned during the year, must be based on the hourly rate of pay of the employee multiplied by 50 percent, and all hours for which payment is received must be deducted from the employee’s accumulated leave balance. Sick leave used during a current year will be charged against the most recently earned sick leave. Hourly rate of pay is the hourly rate at the end of the contract year.

  • Sick Leave Benefits Sick leave is an indemnity benefit and not an acquired right. A Nurse who is absent from a scheduled shift on approved sick leave shall only be entitled to sick leave pay if the Nurse is not otherwise receiving pay for that day, and providing the Nurse has sufficient sick leave credits.
