Sick Leave Period. Every full-time employee shall accumulate (bank) sick credits at the rate of one and one-half days per month. Following the three month probationary period, an employee becomes eligible for sick leave benefits at the rate of 100% of regular pay for each day of sick leave accumulated. When this "bank" is exhausted, the rates set out below apply up to the end of the sick leave period. 3 months to 1 year of service - 66 2/3% of regular pay 1 year of service but less than 2 - 70% of regular pay 2 years of service but less than 3 - 80% of regular pay 3 years of service but less than 4 - 90% of regular pay 4 years of service or over - 100% of regular pay There is no waiting period for the first three absences through disability in the twelve month period from April 1st to March 31st, nor if an employee has time accumulated in his "bank". For the fourth and subsequent illnesses, provided there is no time left in the "bank" benefits will begin on the third day of the illness. When an employee's "bank" is exhausted, all sick leave paid to the employee is recorded as "borrowed" against future bank. When the employee returns, she begins accumulating her bank again and thus reducing what she has borrowed. If the employee is sick again while her balance is still in the negative, she is eligible for benefits, subject to the previous paragraph, but only at the percentage of salary accorded by her service, and up to limits as follows; Employees working a 7.50 hour day limited to 562.50 hours (75 working days) Termination of employment or transfer out of Full-time Conditions Employees who terminate, or transfer from full-time employment, with hours accumulated in their bank, do not receive a cash out payment. Those with a negative bank are not required to pay the cost of the negative hours.

Re-employment and Transfer back to Full-time Conditions Employees who are re-employed on a full-time condition do not inherit their previous balance, either positive or negative. Staff transferring back to full-time conditions inherit their previous sick bank, positive or negative.

  • Sick Leave Days Subject to paragraphs d) i-vi below, permanent full-time Teachers will be allocated eleven (11) sick days at one hundred percent (100%) salary in each school year. Teachers who are less than full-time shall have their sick leave allocation pro-rated.

  • Sick Leaves a. After the first year of full-time employment, a full-time faculty member who, by reason of personal illness or a medically certified disability is incapable of performing the regular duties of a faculty member, shall be entitled to a sick leave, with full pay (in lieu of contract salary which otherwise would be earned), for a period not to exceed six months. In no event, however, shall the University’s payment for sick leave exceed one-half (1/2) of the faculty member’s then prevailing annual contract salary. If the faculty member receives governmental disability benefits and/or workers’ compensation benefits during the period of absence, the faculty member shall be paid the difference between the benefits received and the benefits provided above.

  • Sick Leave The employee is eligible for long term disability benefits if provided for in the Collective Agreement. An employee will not receive pay for the first two (2) weeks of any period of absence due to a legitimate illness. The employee may utilize the paid holiday bank as income replacement for absences due to illness, as described in Article (c) above. An employee who is eligible may apply for Employment Insurance for weeks three (3) through seventeen (17) for any absence due to a legitimate illness. The Home will provide the employee with Disability Income Protection as per Article 14.01 (c) for weeks eighteen (18) through thirty (30) for any absence due to a legitimate illness. Employees may be required to provide medical proof of illness for any absence of a scheduled shift, which is neither vacation nor an approved leave of absence.

  • Sick Leave Incentive Effective September 1, 1986, employees covered by this Agreement, hired on or after October 1, 1977, who are not entitled to disability leave under State Statute R.C.W. 41.26, shall be eligible for the following sick leave incentive program:

  • Sick Leave While on Vacation An employee who while on vacation is incapacitated for one (1) or more days due to personal illness or injury may charge such days to accrued sick leave. In such event, the employee promptly shall notify his department, and upon return to duty shall substantiate the need for, and use of, sick leave.

  • Sick Leave Payout No cash payment for unused sick leave will be paid to any employee leaving the service of the Employer.

  • Sick Leave Abuse ‌ When the Employer suspects sick leave abuse, the employee will be provided the opportunity to explain the circumstances surrounding their sick leave use prior to disciplining the employee, or making reference to sick leave use in the employee’s performance evaluation. The Employer may not adopt or enforce any policy that counts the use of paid sick leave time as an absence that may lead to or result in disciplinary action for an authorized purpose. The Employer may not discriminate or retaliate against an employee for the use of paid sick leave for an authorized purpose.

  • Sick Leave During Vacation Where an employee qualifies for sick leave due to illness or injury during the period of vacation time, sick leave shall displace vacation leave. An illness or injury occurring while the employee is on scheduled vacation time shall not be accepted as a claim for sick leave benefits unless recuperation involves hospitalization or confinement to bed by order of a medical practitioner. Written medical verification of such illness or injury and hospitalization or confinement must be provided to the Employer in order for the employee to be eligible for sick leave benefits.
