SICK LEAVE Sick Leave Base and Accrual. Employees will be eligible for sick leave for their injury or illness or the injury or illness of a spouse or child. Employees will also be eligible to use up to 24 hours of sick leave per fiscal year for the injury or illness of their parent. In the event an employee re- quests sick leave for a child that is between 19 and 26 years old the em- ployee will need to provide a doctor’s note to Human Resources stating the employee’s need to be off work to care for the child. The doctor’s note will be required for any duration of sick leave. In the event the employee does not provide a doctor’s note, time will be submitted as vacation or PC in ac- cordance with the department polices on scheduling. If such sick leave time is FMLA-eligible, the employee will be required to submit FMLA pa- perwork. Sick leave shall run concurrently with the anniversary date of the em- ployee and will be accrued at a rate of one (1) day (8 hours) each month up to a maximum of one hundred twenty (120) days.

Sick leave shall run concurrently with the anniversary date of the employee and will be accrued by new employees at a rate of two and one-half (2 1/2) days each month for his or her first twelve (12) months of employment, af- ter which it shall accrue at a rate of one (1) day each month up to a maxi- mum of one hundred twenty (120) days.
SICK LEAVE Sick Leave Base and Accrual. Sick Leave may be used by an employee for his or her own injury or illness or for an injury or illness of the employee's spouse or child or dependent. All full-time employees shall have a base of sick leave as accumulated prior to the effective date of this Agreement. There shall be added to that base one (1) sick day each month to a maximum of 960 hours of sick leave, which shall be paid at full pay during the time of illness. This benefit shall be accrued by new employees from their date of hire at a rate of two and one-half (2½) days each month for his or her first twelve (12) months of employment, after which it shall accrue at a rate of one (1) day each month up to a maximum of 960 hours of sick leave. Employees shall have 50% of their monthly unused accrued sick time above 960 hours paid into the Retirement Health Saving (RHS) account. Such contributions will be made on a monthly basis.

  • Sick Leave Bonus For every six (6) months of perfect sick leave attendance after July 1, 1987, the employee will receive eight (8) hours of bonus time. This bonus time will be prorated for part-time employees. Such bonus time can be used for any leave purpose covered by this Agreement. Such bonus time shall be counted as vacation leave credits for purposes of determining eligibility for carry- over and cash payments.

  • Accrued 100% sick leave The use of sick leave under this subsection is at the employee's discretion.

  • Sick Leave Pay A Nurse granted sick leave shall be paid for the period of such leave at her or his regular hourly rate of pay and the number of hours thus paid shall be deducted from the accumulated sick leave credits of the Nurse.

  • Sick Leave Accrual Full-time employees will accrue eight (8) hours of sick leave in a calendar month. Part- time employees will accrue sick leave credit on the same proportional basis that their employment schedule bears to a full-time schedule, up to a maximum of eight (8) hours in a calendar month.

  • Sick Leave Abuse ‌ When the Employer suspects sick leave abuse, the employee will be provided the opportunity to explain the circumstances surrounding their sick leave use prior to disciplining the employee, or making reference to sick leave use in the employee’s performance evaluation. The Employer may not adopt or enforce any policy that counts the use of paid sick leave time as an absence that may lead to or result in disciplinary action for an authorized purpose. The Employer may not discriminate or retaliate against an employee for the use of paid sick leave for an authorized purpose.

  • Paid Sick Leave Employees shall earn and be granted paid sick leave according to the following provisions:

  • Sick Leave Benefit There are two types of sick leave benefits. Annual sick leave is the sick leave days credited each year to each employee in accordance with the provisions of the local collective bargaining agreements. Banked sick leave is previously accumulated unused sick leave to which unused annual sick leave may be added at the end of each anniversary year.

  • Sick Leave Pool a. The Sick Leave Pool is intended to provide security to supplement other insurance benefits by allowing employees to "buy" insurance for extended illness, or other disability. Pool Days may be used to "make an employee whole" if disability or Workers' Compensation benefits are less than normal base pay. When "buying" Pool Days, employees convert Earned Time days on a 1:3 basis. Similar to purchasing insurance, the employee may pick a given number of days to exchange for coverage in case of extended disability.

  • Sick Leave Policy It is the policy of the State of Ohio to not unreasonably deny sick leave to employees when requested. It is also the policy of the State to take corrective action for unauthorized use of sick leave and/or abuse of sick leave. It is further the policy of the State that when corrective and/or disciplinary action is taken, it will be applied progressively and consistently. It is the desire of the State of Ohio that when discipline is applied it will serve the purpose of correcting the performance of the employee.

  • Sick Leave Benefits Sick leave is an indemnity benefit and not an acquired right. A Nurse who is absent from a scheduled shift on approved sick leave shall only be entitled to sick leave pay if the Nurse is not otherwise receiving pay for that day, and providing the Nurse has sufficient sick leave credits.
