Six Period Day. If the Board determines that a six-period day for Teachers shall be followed in any one of the District's secondary schools, a Teacher assigned to a 6th period of structured classroom teaching shall be compensated at the rate of one sixth (1/6) of his or her Salary per year per hour of overload. A team taught course shall be defined as any course where a common group of students are assigned to two or more teachers. Such courses shall include excel, flex, team 9 English, World Studies and any other course that would qualify under this definition. a. At the high school such teachers will qualify for a three (3) class teaching load with team planning as a fourth daily assignment. At the middle school such teachers will qualify for a four class teaching load with team planning as a fifth daily assignment. If the district’s financial circumstances dictate, the language in this section shall not be operative. The Board of Education will inform the Association of the need to implement this change by April 1 of the preceding school year. Should this occur, the teacher’s responsibilities associated with this program will be altered accordingly. b. The teachers assigned to team taught courses shall have their planning period scheduled in common. c. During X Block team when professional development meetings are scheduled for the purpose of curriculum planning, teacher assigned to teaching teams shall have the priority to meet with their teaching team. d. No teacher shall be assigned to more than one (1) team taught course. e. This shall not prohibit other teacher from receiving similar teaching load and planning considerations as a result of Education Council and Board of Education action. f. At the high school, in the event that the district declares a financial emergency and cannot provide a daily team planning time in lieu of a fourth course, the following provision shall apply. i. Planning time is defined as a continuous seventy (70) minute period outside the workday. Thirty-five (35) minute periods may be scheduled with the prior approval of the building administration. ii. Teachers will be paid forty ($40) dollars for a seventy (70) minute period, (Fifty ($50) Dollars including FICA and retirement) and twenty ($20) dollars for a thirty-five (35) minute period (twenty-five ($25) dollars including FICA and retirement). Beginning in the 2008/2009 school year the total available for such payments is twenty thousand ($20,000) dollars. iii. The schedule of five periods in a six period day does not preclude the ability to schedule a period of advisor/advisee/homeroom/differentiated support for students, so long as it does not require preparation time (e.g., tutorial assistance re-test, or make-up testing).

ACCUMULATION VALUE The Accumulation Value of this Contract is the sum of the amounts in each of the Divisions of the Variable Separate Account and General Account. You select the Divisions of the Variable Separate Account and General Account to which to allocate the Accumulation Value. The maximum number of Divisions to which the Accumulation Value may be allocated at any one time is shown in the Schedule. ACCUMULATION VALUE IN EACH DIVISION ON THE CONTRACT DATE On the Contract Date, the Accumulation Value is allocated to each Division as elected by you, subject to certain terms and conditions imposed by us. We reserve the right to allocate premium to the Specially Designated Division during any Right to Examine contract period. After such time, allocation will be made proportionately in accordance with the initial allocation(s) as elected by you. ON EACH VALUATION DATE At the end of each subsequent Valuation Period, the amount of Accumulation Value in each Division will be calculated as follows:
