Class Assignments a. To allow for expansion of the faculty hiring pool and in order to forward the Strategic goals of the College, a defined number of sections shall be reserved for assignment within the division. The number of reserved sections for each division shall be determined by multiplying two (2) sections times the number of departments in the division. (The number of departments will be determined by the RIF units.) After regular full-time faculty assignments and, if requested, one (1) full-time faculty moonlight assignment are filled, Priority Associate faculty within a department will be assigned a minimum fifty percent (50%) load of classes they are qualified to teach but before associate assignments are made, with the exception of sections reserved by divisions that may be assigned to associates to expand the hiring pool.
b. After all contractual load obligations have been met, additional available classes shall first be offered to Priority Associates for up to one hundred percent (100%) load.
c. Associate and Priority Associate positions are not eligible to be applied to the tenure track process, and they will not be assigned an Appointment Review Committee.
Class Assignments. Continuing part-time faculty will be assigned courses according to the following sequential criteria with the overall philosophies of providing quality instruction for students, of fairness for members of the bargaining unit, of fairness for other part-time faculty, and recognizing the need for flexibility within the parameters below.
Class Assignments. The Union President shall be given the opportunity to discuss teacher assignments before they are approved by the Superintendent. The assignment of all classes regardless of level shall be made in the best interest of students taking into consideration the following factors (listed in alphabetical order): Effect of extra-curricular assignments. Experience. Gender, including particularly the assignment to physical education classes. Number of preparations. Qualifications of the teachers, including degree(s), special expertise, and interest. Teacher request.
Class Assignments. Teachers shall be given the opportunity to work with classes of varying achievement levels.
Class Assignments a. Part-Time faculty may be assigned any load up to or exceeding 100% for any number of quarters understanding that Part-Time appointments are non-tenurable.
c. Part-Time and Priority Associate positions are not eligible to be applied to the tenure track process, and they will not be assigned an Appointment Review Committee.
Class Assignments. Teachers and Teacher Assistants may request in writing, no later than May 15th of each year, a particular class assignment for the following school year. The School shall make a good faith effort to accommodate the requests, provided the Employee is qualified for the requested position and the assignment is consistent with the School’s requirements.
Class Assignments. Priority in course assignments applies to members of the bargaining unit based on seniority level at the College. After loads of full time faculty members are set, the College shall attempt to make assignments to members of the bargaining unit to part-time faculty members who are fully qualified, who have had a continuing history of successful performance at the College and who are available to teach at times that are consistent with the College's scheduling. The department will assign courses to unit members within their department in order of seniority as defined in Article 6.1 and 6.3 of this Agreement. Nothing herein shall be construed or applied in such a way as to deprive the College of the right to disregard seniority in the assignment of courses in unusual circumstances or when a particular specialization or expertise is needed. The College shall provide to the Union President or designee an updated seniority list by department prior to the fall semester and the spring semester each year. Based on the above criteria, the College shall make course assignment offerings to Adjunct Faculty members who are available to teach at the times the course selections are offered. Retired full-time faculty with appropriate qualifications and experience will be granted priority assignments. Bargaining Unit members who have developed on-line and blended courses shall be given priority to teach those courses before any other faculty member regardless of that faculty member's status or seniority. Other faculty may teach additional sections but have no intellectual property rights to the course being taught. Other faculty cannot bump the original developer unless the course interferes with a full time faculty making load and all other options have been exhausted. Course assignments for each semester, including summer, will be made by the College according to the following process:
Class Assignments. A schedule of classes will be developed by each Department each semester. The appropriate Xxxx(s) will meet with the Department Chairs each semester to plan the schedule for the following semester. The VPAA will make final approval of Department class offerings. In schedule development, primary consideration will be given to the following:
a) meeting the education needs of students
b) maximizing efficient use of College facilities
c) demonstrating sensitivity to the particular requirements of different departments and disciplines. Chairs and Deans will establish an agreed-upon written procedure for scheduling. Priority in course assignments applies to members of the bargaining unit based on seniority level at the College. Full-time faculty will receive load and overload assignments prior to retired full-time faculty and fully qualified adjuncts. For sections not assigned to full-time faculty, the College shall attempt to make assignments to members of the bargaining unit who are fully qualified, who have had a continuing history of successful performance at the College and who are available to teach at times that are consistent with the College's scheduling. The department will assign courses to unit members within their department in order of seniority as defined in Article 6.1 and 6.3 of this Agreement. The College shall provide to the Union President or designee an updated seniority list by department by October 1st and February 1st each year. Based on the above criteria, the College shall make course assignment offerings to Adjunct Faculty members who are available to teach at the times the course selections are offered. Retired full-time faculty with appropriate qualifications and experience will be granted priority assignments. Adjunct faculty primarily responsible for the creation of a new course or a new delivery format for an existing course will be assigned at least one section of that course for each semester it is offered. This applies for the first four semesters the course is offered excluding summer sessions. Course assignments for each semester, including summer, will be made by the College according to the following process:
Class Assignments. 4.1. Affiliate Faculty will have the right of first refusal for available classes that they are qualified to teach within their program after full-time faculty have received their classes. Seniority for Affiliate faculty will be determined based on the date of the first Affiliate contract. In the case of a tie, the Affiliate’s hire date will determine seniority.
4.2. Non-Affiliate faculty will receive class assignments based on their seniority and/or subject matter expertise in the courses they are qualified to teach after Affiliate faculty have received their class(es). Seniority will be determined by the date when each course was first taught.
4.3. If requested, the Xxxx will meet with the non-Affiliate adjunct, who is not offered a class, to discuss the decision.
Class Assignments a. All staff will be notified in writing of the schools to which they will be assigned, the grades and/or subjects they will teach, and any special or unusual classes that they will have for the coming year as soon as practicable. All staff assignments will be made in compliance with applicable sections of the contract.
