Skills Development Program. The parties are committed to develop and implement a skills development program based on the acquisition of skills through accredited training. The training provided shall be based on the agreed national competency standards developed by Construction Training Australia for fire protection and be provided by ‘Accredited Training Authorities’. Provided that any training program developed shall not include trade- training modules as provided through the apprenticeship or equivalent contracts for structured training in the fire protection industry.
Skills Development Program. The Employer recognises the need for a greater skilled workforce in order to full fill the objectives of this Agreement. Where possible, training shall play a major role in developing a more flexible and productive workforce whilst improving job satisfaction and career progression for employees. It is anticipated that, through a coordinated training program the employees will be able to undertake a wider range of additional duties in the building industry, thus increasing flexibility and productivity. Additional skill requirements may include training for work in Confined Space, Commissioning of RPZ Devices, Supervision and Project Management. The Employer: a) Shall work together with the Employees to identify and enact training in areas where it is needed. b) Without prejudice shall be responsible for the selection of the relevant employee required to attend any courses as required by the Employer. c) Pay the training fees for employees undertaking training on condition: i) The employee made the request to the Employer prior to attending the training for the fees to be paid and the Employer agreed to pay the fees in writing ii) Or the Employer made the request to the employee to attend the training in writing d) Pay for ordinary wages of employees engaged in training as per the same conditions as item c). All training outside ordinary hours shall be in the employee’s own time. e) Pay an additional allowance when the training course has been completed and the new skills obtained on condition that the employee is promoted or the new skill being practiced a reasonable amount of time each week or at the time the new skill is practiced. Skills Development Program. The parties are committed to develop and implement a skills development program based on the acquisition of skills through accredited and/or in house company based training. It is agreed that where formalised training program/s is/are implemented within the workplace, employees will be expected to achieve the minimum agreed performance criteria. Employees not meeting these levels will be provided with assistance. Should the level of performance not improve, the company counselling & discipline procedure as described in this agreement may be initiated, if required. Personnel are expected to maintain performance levels established via the consultative committee. Employees not meeting these levels will be provided with assistance. The Self-Employment Program (SEP) provides support to eligible clients with the opportunity to start a small business. This program provides supports for clients in assessing their business idea, their personal suitability, family issues, financial risks, and the resources available or required to be successful. SEP interventions may be supported under the LMDA or WDA. The objectives of the SEP are to:  Provide support for NWT residents to develop small businesses;  Encourage business development as a means to create future local employment opportunities; and  Grow the NWT workforce through partnerships.
