Special Subject Teachers. Teachers of art, music, physical education, laboratory sciences, media specialists, speech language pathologists, reading consultants, school psychologists, school social workers, school counselors, all special education employees, career and technical college teachers and occupational specialists shall be provided preparation time to the same extent as other employees in the District and the time shall be used for that purpose. Elementary schools shall make every effort to provide special subject teachers with a fair and equitable work schedule. Schools shall not regularly assign school counselors to teach classes unless at least one (1) full-time counselor without teaching responsibilities is available to maintain the counseling program. Every effort shall be made to assign each special subject teacher to his/her own classroom when assigned to instruct students on a regular schedule. When such assignment is not possible, a reasonable period of time shall be allowed for a teacher to move between classes.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT. Measures of student achievement may include but shall not be limited to test scores in core academic subjects. All ET personnel covered under the provision of this Article shall be paid at a per-diem rate for each day they are required to work following the closing day of the school year for teachers and before the opening day of the school year for teachers, provided funds are available.
1. In each school unit, and prior to the first day of school for students, the supervisor and the School Chapter Advisory Committee shall prepare an inventory of existing supplies and develop procedures to accomplish the equitable and timely distribution of such supplies.
2. A supply room will be provided in each school unit for materials to be used by teachers and others. Procedures for the full use of supplies available for the school year shall be developed by the supervisor and the School Chapter Advisory Committee in order to assure that teachers will have such supplies when needed.
Special Subject Teachers. (a) Art, Music, Remedial Reading, Physical Education, Homemaking and Industrial Arts shall be assigned either six (6) teaching periods each day, or five (5) teaching periods and one study hall period (or other similar duty period) each day.
(b) The foregoing teachers shall be scheduled with at least a thirty minute lunch period each day, and the equivalent of one (1) period each day for preparation.

ARTICLE XXVI. SUPPLIES, EQUIPMENT, TEXTBOOKS, TECHNOLOGY, AND RELATED EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS A. General

The supervisor and the School Chapter Advisory Committee shall meet no later than September 30th of each school year to consult and develop procedures to ensure equitable allocation and distribution of funds for instructional supplies, equipment, textbooks, and other educational resources. The supervisor shall meet with the teaching staff by October 15th of each year to review and discuss the procedures. A written copy of the procedures shall be provided to all teachers prior to the meeting.
3. Each teacher shall submit in writing to the supervisor his/her request for instructional supplies, equipment, and other educational resources by October 30th of each year, unless an alternative date is otherwise agreed to by the supervisor and the school chapter advisory committee. To the extent possible, the supervisor shall fulfill such request. When the supervisor is unable to fulfill or denies any portion of a teacher’s request for instructional supplies, equipment, or other educational resources, the supervisor shall provide the teacher the specific reason in writing.

Special Subject Teachers. Special Subject Teachers grades 1-6 in a school day have, in addition to their lunch period, not less than 35 minutes preparation time. Additionally, teachers traveling between buildings are entitled to 15 minutes for travel to and from buildings before or after lunch.
