Supplemental Jobs a. The supplemental pay schedule shall be set forth in Appendix B, which is attached to and incorporated into this Agreement. Supplemental pay shall be incorporated into the regular pay periods. b. Employees hired solely for supplemental duties listed in Appendix B may be paid at such time as the Board deems necessary. The salary shall be determined by Appendix B. c. The necessity to fill the positions in Appendix B shall be determined by the Board of Education.

Supplemental Jobs. The supplemental pay schedule shall be as set forth in Appendix B and Appendix C. Supplemental jobs are defined as any assignments that are in addition to the normal daily work schedule and/or that exceed the normal work day. The Board and the Association agree that extracurricular activities, though secondary to the curricular program, can provide important benefits to the overall aims of education. The Board and the Association also agree that, if a successful and comprehensive program of extracurricular activities is to be offered, a pool of qualified district teachers and other qualified persons willing to be assigned as sponsors and coaches must be available to the Board during the planning phase, prior to the school year in which the activities are to take place. Teachers who do not wish to receive supplemental jobs of extracurricular assignments shall notify the superintendent in writing no later than ninety (90) days prior to the last day of school in the preceding school year, providing the Board the time needed for recruitment and planning, including cancellation of activities if necessary. Supplemental pay will be added to the teacher’s salary and will be paid in the paycheck each pay period, or may be paid in any installments that are mutually agreeable with the teacher involved and the superintendent.

Actively employed teachers of District #228 who make an application will be given first consideration. Administrators will make allowance for teachers to leave prior to the regular end of the workday in cases where they need to leave early to attend scheduled practices and performances for Appendix B-1 and B-2 events. The administration may exercise its option and make the assignment to a person outside the teaching staff. Those stipends that are listed in Appendix B-1 and Appendix B-2 and are not specified as “Head Coaches Decision” may be shared among two or more people provided that there is mutual agreement between the employees involved, the Board, and Association.

Employee volunteers shall be sought for extra duty assignments. When no acceptable volunteers exist, the positions may be filled from outside the bargaining unit. As a last alternative an employee may be assigned to a supplemental pay position and such assignment shall be reviewed annually. 2. Stipends for mentoring and approved district level committee work shall be paid at the hourly stipend rate established annually by the Board of Education. 3. Supplemental pay shall be added to the employee’s salary and shall be paid in the paycheck each period, with the exception of basketball and volleyball supervision.
