Daily Work Schedule. All employees shall be assigned a daily work schedule as determined by the School District. Employees shall work the same schedule as the previous year unless otherwise notified. Except in the case of an emergency, employees shall be notified in writing five (5) days in advance of a change in schedule if the change results in a reduction of hours.

Daily Work Schedule. The Employer shall not require any employee to perform teaching or related duties amounting to more than eight (8) hours per day without their agreement, with the exception of courses involving field work.
Daily Work Schedule. A. The teachers’ maximum daily work schedule shall meet the State mandated instructional hours. In the event that State, Federal, or other appropriate agencies (i.e. North Central Accreditation Standards) shall require additional time, the work day and/or work year shall be modified accordingly. Teacher and student days may be increased up to a maximum of five (5) days more than the present contract limits for the applicable year without additional compensation for employees when the State requires more time. The Board of Education shall retain the right during the term of this contract to alter, modify, increase, or decrease the student-teacher contact time to meet the minimum requirement of state, federal law, or any agency requirement. In accordance therewith the Board shall have the right to modify the workday, the work year and work schedule to accommodate such changes in the manner which allows the District to operate and function in the most economic and educationally sound manner achievable. Any schedule determined by the School District shall as closely resemble the current school calendar to the extent that this can be achieved without sacrificing efficiency and economy. The parties to this Agreement mutually accept that the purpose is to establish at least the minimum minutes of contact time between students and teachers and that the Board of Education shall have the right to alter, modify, increase or decrease or otherwise change building and teaching times and schedules to accommodate transportation and break period requirements for students, and for other mandated services provided by the District to students and as are necessary to the economic operation of the educational facilities.

No teacher shall be required to report for duty earlier than five (5) minutes before the opening of the regular school day in the morning, and teachers shall be permitted to leave five (5) minutes after the close of the regular day. All teachers in the elementary, middle and senior high schools shall have a duty-free, uninterrupted lunch period of not less than thirty (30) minutes. Elementary teachers who transport students to and from lunch shall have a lunch period equal to forty (40) minutes including a duty free uninterrupted lunch period of not less than thirty (30) minutes. C. In the middle and senior high schools, the daily teaching load will be five (5) teaching periods and one (1) unassigned preparation period. Assignment to supervise study periods or other student supervision shall be considered a teaching period with the exception of homeroom periods. D. The parties agree that any high school schedule will include five-sixths (5/6) teaching load and one- sixth (1/6) preparation period. E. All full-time elementary teachers shall be guaranteed three hundred (300) minutes of planning preparation and relief time per week. During this time a sixty (60) minute grade level block will be created for grades K-5. Except when notified in advance by the principal, the grade level team will determine the use of this time. Once monthly, when notified in advance, the principal, staff development department, or curriculum coordinators may use the full sixty (60) minutes for assessment literacy in-service. Daily Work Schedule. 1. Each Employee working a full school day shall be entitled to a duty-free lunch period of no less than thirty (30) consecutive minutes during the school day. If Employees are unable to regularly schedule a duty-free lunch due to work obligations, they may consult with their supervisor. 2. Each full-time classroom Employee may have an average of 120 minutes per week of planning during the instructional day to be scheduled by the immediate supervisor. Each Employee may arrange his/her daily itinerary consistent with his/her assignment. Occasionally an Employee may be required to modify his/her daily itinerary. Each Employee must submit his/her daily itinerary in writing to his/her supervisor within two (2) weeks at the start of school. When daily modifications are necessary, they will be reported to the building secretary or XXXX switchboard if not assigned to a district. Flextime is a scheduling arrangement that permits occasional variation to the Employee’s daily itinerary due to unusual and extraordinary time worked in addition to the Employee’s daily schedule that exceeds 60 minutes per occurrence, but does not change the total number of hours worked in a week (35 hours for full-time staff). Flextime serves the needs of individual Employees and of their work within the Agency. The focus of the arrangement is on job performance and meeting workload demands, including extended hours of work. Flextime may be applied to full-time and part-time positions and must be used in the same week it is incurred. The use of flextime must be communicated in advance to the Employee’s immediate Supervisor. All flextime that will interfere with a scheduled student, parent, District, or Agency meeting must be approved in advance by the Employee’s immediate Supervisor. To use flextime, the Employee shall have a demonstrated history of satisfactory, independent work performance, and time management skills. The Supervisor may prohibit use of flextime if an Employee does not meet these expectations. If the supervisor assigns work in addition to the employee’s established calendar, such time may be combined and used in consultation with the employee’s supervisor in lieu of scheduled days within the same contract year. Documentation supporting the assignment and use of such time will be in writing and maintained by the Supervisor and the Employee. Daily Work Schedule. 1. The normal work week, based on yearly work schedule in #2 below, will be determined by the Administration and Association with two fifteen (15) minute work relief periods, and an unpaid duty-free lunch period of thirty (30) minutes each day. 2. A full-time employee’s yearly work schedule will consist of One Thousand Eight Hundred Twenty (1820) hours for Administrative Assistance support staff and Two Thousand Eighty (2080) hours for Technology Services staff. A part time position is defined as any hours less than those outlined above as determined by the Employer. 3. Admin Flex time may be used as time off or compensation of wages. Compensation between thirty-five (35) and forty (40) hours per week based on work schedule will be paid or accrued at the regular rate. 8. Failure to obtain a two (2) working-day prior approval (except in case of an emergency) of a schedule variation for Vacation or Personal days constitutes denial. 9. If a support employee demonstrates a pattern of using sick time before or after their scheduled day off or if there is reasonable suspicion that sick leave is being misused, the employee will be asked to produce a doctor slip. 10. Disputes arise over the scheduling of the workday, the employee having the earliest submitted request shall have scheduling preference. Daily Work Schedule. A. Ancillary employees must post their daily schedules on the district’s web-based calendar so they may be reached during the school day if needed. B. Each ancillary employee’s alternative calendar will be determined in conjunction with the appropriate supervisory personnel. C. When working in the Educational Service District (ESD) Office, personnel will work a seven (7) hour day during office hours. D. When working in the schools, employees will be governed by the workday in effect in that school. E. Employees who are required to travel shall be allowed to count travel time between worksites (schools, office, or other location of work) as part of their work responsibilities. F. If the teaching staff from a local school are excused from attendance during any part of the day for other than inclement weather or natural disaster (i.e. bomb scare, mechanical failure in the school, or other closings), ESD personnel serving that school will report to the Educational Service District office, or consult with supervisory personnel about an alternative assignment. G. If a local school is working under a State approved reduced schedule due to economic hardship, employees assigned to that school will be given alternate assignments when that school is not in session. H. Classroom teachers shall be responsible for a seven-hour workday. Time for lunch is included as part of the work day and is not duty-free. Two (2) on-site fifteen (15) minute breaks are included in the work day. I. It is recognized that planning and preparation time is a necessary part of classroom teaching. This time shall be scheduled by the classroom teacher in a manner that utilizes their existing classroom resources in consultation with their immediate supervisor. X. The classroom teacher will be the direct leader in the classroom of the everyday duties and responsibilities for all paraprofessional activities. Only if there is an issue of higher concern will it be addressed by a COP ESD Special Education Supervisor or if not available, a Director or the Superintendent. K. Any additional responsibility that requires work beyond the normal workday shall be negotiated by the bargaining unit Federation, Administration, and the individual involved prior to the work commencing. (ex: Homebound Teacher, Lead Teacher, etc.)
