Supplementary Annual Leave. Each member shall be entitled to 40 hours of supplementary annual leave, in addition to the annual leave to which the member is entitled pursuant to Section 8.1, upon commencing the member's sixteenth, twenty-first, twenty-sixth, thirty-first, thirty-sixth and forty-first calendar year of service. Each member shall become entitled to supplementary annual leave pursuant to this section on the first day of January in the year in which the member qualifies for such supplementary annual leave. Proration of supplementary annual leave shall be in accordance with Schedule "F", which is attached for clarification. A member shall retain supplementary annual leave entitlement notwithstanding that such member's employment is terminated prior to the end of the period to which the entitlement applies. Members who are entitled to supplementary annual leave may schedule supplementary annual leave in a block of 40 hours as annual leave and such hours shall then be considered in all respects as annual leave; or members may schedule such supple- mentary annual leave hours in accordance with Section 7.2(b) and such hours shall be considered in all respects as overtime leave.

Supplementary Annual Leave. (a) Members with 16 or more years of continuous service shall, in addition to the regular Annual Leave to which they are entitled under Section 11.1 "Annual Leave", be eligible to receive an additional 40 hours of supplementary Annual Leave each five years upon the commencement of their 16th, 21st, 26th, 31st, 36th and 41st years of continuous service.
(b) A member will be credited with 40 hours of supplementary Annual Leave at the start of his/her 16th Calendar Year and the supplementary leave so credited may be taken at any time prior to the end of his/her 20th Calendar Year.
(c) Members will be entitled to the supplementary Annual Leave in the Calendar Year in which their applicable anniversary of service occurs, as specified above, and for purposes of this Section the entitlement date for such supplementary Annual Leave shall be the first day of January in the year in which the anniversary occurs.
(d) Members who are entitled to supplementary Annual Leave may schedule such leave in a block of 40 hours as Annual Leave and such hours will then be considered in all respects as Annual Leave; or Members may schedule such supplementary Annual Leave hours in accordance with Section 10.4 "Accumulation and Banking of Overtime" and such hours shall then be considered in all respects as overtime leave.
(e) A Member who terminates his/her service with the Department shall be paid at the time of such termination for any supplementary Annual Leave entitlement earned, but not taken.
(f) Supplementary Annual Leave may, with the permission of the Chief Constable, be scheduled in conjunction with the Annual Leave sign-up.
(g) Schedule “B” illustrates the application of supplementary Annual Leave entitlements in the years 1996 - 2011, inclusive, based on the Member's date of hiring.
(h) Supplementary Annual Leave hours may be taken in any of the five years commencing with the anniversary year of entitlement, but must be taken prior to the year in which the next five year anniversary occurs.
