Sworn Employees. Every newly promoted employee covered by this agreement will be required to successfully complete a probationary period of one hundred and eighty (180) days. The probationary period shall begin on the first day the employee receives compensation from the Employer at the new rank.
Sworn Employees. The City shall pay the premium for a long-term disability plan (currently through CLEA) chosen by the Association. However, any increases in cost for that plan must be agreed to by the City and are subject to the meet and confer process. For detailed information, the employee must contact CLEA directly. Sworn Employees. A. Sworn employees of the bargaining unit shall accrue time off for holidays, at the rate of eight (8) hours per month, for a total of ninety-six (96) hours per year. Such holiday time off shall be taken within the calendar year in which it is earned or the balance as of December 31 shall be paid as part of the December payroll, which may include the first pay period in January. Upon termination of an employee for any reason, or in the event of death of an employee, the employee, or the estate of the employee shall be paid a lump sum for all earned but unused holiday time off. B. Employees whose work shift starts on a holiday will be paid at the overtime rate for the entire shift. “Holiday” refers to the holidays listed in Article 13.2.
Sworn Employees. 1) Each employee shall pay the full 9% employee/member portion of the required retirement contributions. 2) Upon agreement with or imposition through impasse on other City bargaining units representing sworn members, the City will amend its contract with the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) to implement a 3% at 55 retirement formula as part of a two-tiersystem. All sworn employees hired on or after October 16, 2011, will be subject to the 3% at 55 formula. Sworn employees hired prior to the effective date of this amended contract with PERS will continue to enjoy the 3% at 50 retirement formula. To the extent permitted by the Public Employees Retirement System, any current sworn employee who leaves employment with the City and is reinstated within 18 months of leaving shall return at the 3% at 50 retirement plan. 3) Safety unit members hired on or after January 1, 2013 who are defined as "new members" under the PEPRA, are covered by the 2.7% @ 57 formula provided for by the Public Employees' Retirement Law at Government Code section 7522.25(d). Safety employees subject to the 2.7%@57 formula shall pay the statutorily mandated employee contribution rate of one half the total normal cost. 4) In addition to the nine percent (9%) of compensation earnable employee-paid member contribution paid by “classic” members and the one half of the total normal cost paid by “PEPRA” members, effective on the beginning of the pay period when the City Council approves this MOU these employees shall pay an additional one and one-half percent (1.5%) of compensation earnable of the required employer contribution as cost sharing in accordance with Government Code section 20516(f). 5) Effective on the beginning of the pay period which includes February 1, 2018 these employees shall pay an additional one and one-half percent (1.5%) (for a total of twelve percent (12% for classic members and one half the normal cost plus three percent (3%) for PEPRA members) of compensation earnable of the required employer contribution as cost sharing in accordance with Government Code section 20516(f).
Sworn Employees. On January 1, 2024, the pay scales found in Appendix A shall be implemented for all sworn bargaining unit members. Members shall be placed on the pay step that corresponds to their years of service as a police officer or their time in rank. Beginning in 2025, members shall advance to the next step on the pay scale on the anniversary of their date of hire provided they receive a satisfactory employment evaluation once a new evaluation system is implemented. Employees who are not credited for their prior law enforcement experience and are hired after the implementation of the pay scale shall be placed on Step 1 of the pay scale and shall advance to the next step on the anniversary of their hire date.

Sworn Employees. Call Back to Duty: minimum of four (4) hours pay at the rate of one and one-half (1.5) times the employee's rate of pay for safety officers called back to actual police duty (as defined as actual Law enforcement activities in the FLSA, 29 CFR 553.211(a) ). There shall be no minimum call back compensation if such time is scheduled contiguous to the employee’s regular shift, then it will be paid as actual time worked.
