TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT TO A HIGHER CLASSIFICATION. A District initiated action to assign a person temporarily to a higher paying classification as a replacement for a person on authorized leave for less than 60 working days.
TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT TO A HIGHER CLASSIFICATION. Section 1. Suppression employees assigned and who perform in a higher classification than their own shall be compensated at the rate of five percent (5%) above their current regular rate of pay, or at the next highest step in pay in the classification to which they are assigned, from the first hour worked.
TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT TO A HIGHER CLASSIFICATION. When an employee is temporarily assigned hours and duties of a higher classification for a period of five (5) working days or more, the employee shall be compensated at the higher rate for the entire period the employee is assigned to work in that classification. The employee shall be compensated by a five (5) percent increase of current salary or the lowest step of the higher class whichever is greater.
TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT TO A HIGHER CLASSIFICATION. Temporary assignments are made at the discretion of the Employer in order to ensure the orderly performance and continuity of services. The temporary assignment must be authorized in advance by the Department Head/Elected Official and Human Resources when an employee will be functioning in a higher classification due to the absence of the higher classified employee, in excess of three (3) continuous working days. A regular employee temporarily assigned to a higher classification for a period in excess of three (3) continuous working days will receive the minimum rate of the higher classification or one (1) step added to their current salary, whichever is greater. The employee temporarily assigned must have the current ability to do the available work and meet the minimum qualifications of the higher classification.
TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT TO A HIGHER CLASSIFICATION. When an employee is temporarily assigned to a higher skilled position, the employee will be placed on the salary schedule at the same step of the position currently held. If currently the employee is at a higher step than the higher skilled position has, the employee will be placed on the top step.
TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT TO A HIGHER CLASSIFICATION. 1. When a Classified unit member covered by this agreement temporarily assumes the duties of a higher classification, the unit member shall be compensated at the higher rate starting on the first day. The unit member shall be placed at the lowest step of the higher classification which would result in an increase of at least five (5) percent. When a temporary assignment at a higher classification extends past twenty (20) full work days, the unit member shall be compensated at their earned longevity step, starting on the twenty first (21st) day, as long as the earned longevity step does not result in a reduction in pay.
TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT TO A HIGHER CLASSIFICATION. A. Any employee, when working one (1) day or more in a higher classification, shall be paid according to the highest step in that classification. The pay shall be effective at the first hour worked in the higher classification. This applies only to those classifications within the bargaining unit.
1. The temporary assignment must be authorized in advance by the Human Resources & Operations Department.
2. The temporarily assigned employee must have be able and available to do the work of the higher classification, and meet the minimum qualifications of the higher classification.
B. If an employee temporarily transfers to a lower classification at the direction of the City, they will continue to be paid at their current higher classification rate.
TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT TO A HIGHER CLASSIFICATION. A. In the absence of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of the DPW the most senior DPW employee shall assume the obligations of supervision. In the event the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent are absent for a continuous period of more than 48 hours (2 days), then such senior DPW employee shall be compensated at the then existing hourly rate of the Assistant Superintendent, retroactive to the assumption of supervisory responsibilities.

A regular employee temporarily assigned to a higher classification for a period in excess of five (5) continuous working days will receive the minimum rate of the higher classification or one (1) increment added to his/her current salary, whichever is greater. In the situation where the temporary assignment exceeds six months (limited to a situation where the temporarily assigned employee replaces an employee on a leave of absence), increments shall continue to be paid every six (6) months until the maximum salary for the temporary assignment is reached. Such temporary assignment must be authorized in writing by the Department Head before salary adjustment is made.
