The parties agree that student access to affordable high quality textbooks and course materials is critical to the academic success of students and consistent with applicable law. The Faculty and the College are committed to the on- going development of appropriate policies, procedures, and standards for the selection of textbooks and course materials to maximize student success, access and affordability. Faculty shall use considerations when selecting texts as prescribed in Florida Statute and SBE Rule related to textbook affordability such as: • Digital textbooks or open access textbooks • Rental options (the College reserves the right to determine if a textbook is feasible to place in the rental program) • Length of time textbooks/instructional materials remain in use • Textbook/instructional material bundling options All sections of the same course shall use the same textbook. An exception may be made for an alternate textbook if the purpose is to pilot the textbook for possible future department-wide adoption. At the end of the pilot, if the alternate textbook is not adopted by the department, then the alternate textbook will no longer be used. A Faculty member shall not require a student to purchase any course materials that are not College approved per the process stated herein.
Textbook Selection. Faculty will select college textbooks in compliance with Florida Statutes. Textbooks for those courses for which there are two (2) or more sections on a campus are selected for a minimum of two (2) years by a campus committee as specified in Article 6.2, Academic Freedom, except as provided in Article 6.2.B.1 or in paragraphs A through E below. When circumstances occur that warrant a committee reconsideration of a textbook selection, the Xxxx with the Campus President's approval may make an exception to the minimum two-year requirement. The Administration shall provide each faculty member with a complimentary copy of the textbook(s) selected for a course. The faculty member may keep the textbook(s) or return it (them) to his immediate Administrative Supervisor. All Associate Faculty may design their own courses in accordance with the curriculum guidelines (i.e., Course Outcome Guide) of the College unless these are discipline decisions, in which case the Associate Faculty member shall be invited to participate in the deliberations and shall adhere to the faculty-driven curricular decisions.
Textbook Selection. Summer school/extended school year.

Teachers whose instructional responsibilities may be affected by textbook/material selection will be afforded an opportunity to submit written comments on the selection options before the final selection is made by the textbook selection committee which will include representatives of each affected building, grade level, and department.
Textbook Selection. The selection of textbooks and supplementary materials to be used are the responsibility of the full-time Faculty member and shall be determined per College guidelines. The parties agree that student access to affordable high-quality textbooks and course materials is critical to the academic success of students and consistent with applicable law. The Faculty and the College are committed to the on-going development of appropriate policies, procedures and standards for the selection of textbooks and course materials to maximize student success, access and affordability. The College recognizes the financial impact that the cost of textbooks has upon students. Faculty shall make every effort to help control student costs by seeking the most economical options, and utilizing all required texts. In addition, Faculty shall use the following considerations when selecting texts (FAC 6A-14.092): • Is the textbook part of a bundle? If the textbook is bundled with supplemental materials, will all components of the bundle be used? • Is the text a new edition? Is the old edition available? • If the old edition is available, to what extent is the new edition different and more valuable for instructional purposes? • Were open access textbooks or alternate digital options considered during the selection process? • Are student learning outcomes being met? Textbooks to be used for a College credit course shall be selected by each Faculty member from a list of textbooks and/or Open Educational Resources agreed upon by the department’s Faculty. The list of textbooks shall be developed by the respective departments and shall be reviewed by the Xxxx and approved by the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.
