VACATIONS AND a Section All employees of the City be granted payment for all Statutory Holidays and for day which the Council of the City may public holiday. For the purpose of this section, all new employees hired by the City shall have worked for the City at least (15) working days the thirty (30) calendar day period immediately prior to the Statutory Holiday. In the interpretation of this section the following are the Statutory Holidays which shall apply, namely: Christmas Day and the day immediately following New Year's Day Good Friday Easter Monday Canada Day Victoria Day Day Labour Day Thanksgiving Day Remembrance Day The birthday or the day fixed by Proclamation of the Governor in Council for the celebration of the birthday of the reigning sovereign, and any day appointed by Proclamation of the Governor in Council as a holiday of general application throughout Canada and any day appointed by Proclamation or Order of the Governor in Council as a holiday, If a statutory or public holiday falls on a day, the City may declare that the day preceding the holiday or the working day immediately following the holiday be observed in lieu of the said holiday.

VACATIONS AND. Vacation pay shall be for a normal week’s earnings based on the employee’s rate for his regular the number normally scheduled for that occupation, and according to the practices presently in effect. ofvacation pay will be calculated earnings in the previous calendar year or hours pay for day workers (42 hours for tour workers) at the employees regular rate, whichever is greater. When an employee has worked straight time hours or more within the qualifying year on a higher rate, his vacation and holiday pay will be calculated on the higher rate. have had one years’ continuous employmentshall be eligible for two weeks vacation with pay. Employees with five or more years of continuous service shall be entitled to three vacation with pay. with ten or more years of continuous service shall be to four vacation with pay with eighteen (18) or more years of continuous service shall be entitled to five vacation with pay. Employees with twenty-five more years of continuous service shall be entitled to six vacation with pay Employees with thirty more years of continuous service shall be entitled to seven vacation with pay. Employees shall receive an additional four pay at his regular rate for each week of vacation entitlement taken during the period January to April 30th. This practice would also apply to an employee taking a block offloaters that would give him from Sunday to Saturday during the period January to April 30th. It is understood that this option may only be taken once per calendar year. An employee who has been offwork because accident (covered by Worker’s Compensation) shall be granted pay with equivalent time off in accordance with the Provisions of Article for accrued vacation and/or floating holiday entitlement in the calendar year in which he was offwork. RE: Weekly Indemnity: In the event that not enough time remains in the corresponding calendar year to accommodate the equivalenttime off or any portion thereof, such employee will be permitted to carry over the unused vacation/ floating holidays to the following calendar year and will take this time immediately after the conclusion weekly indemnity claim prior to returning to work. A terminated employee shall be paid his full vacation entitlement for the previous calendar year plus his full pro-rated entitlement for the current calendar year.
