Voluntary Emergency Management Activity. Engagement in voluntary emergency management activities is subject to the Staff Member:
a) taking part in an activity relating to an emergency or natural disaster;
b) genuinely engaging in such activity on a voluntary basis; and
c) possessing a membership or a member-like association with a recognised emergency service body; and either
i) being requested by or on behalf of the emergency service body to engage in the activity; or
ii) if a request is not made, there being a reasonable expectation in the circumstances that a request would have been made.
Voluntary Emergency Management Activity. An employee is entitled to unpaid leave to engage in an activity dealing with an emergency or natural disaster as a member of an emergency management body such as a rural fire brigade or State Emergency Service.
Voluntary Emergency Management Activity. (VEM A)
(a) Employees, other than casuals, are entitled to be paid:
(i) For the first 10 days when absent from work in one or more period to attend VEMA activities. Note - The administration of this provision will be in line with the Australian Government’s Guide - ‘Guidance for Agency Heads – Paid emergency response leave for Australian Public Service employees, or its successor. Note: Approval for absence due to VEMA activity will be subject to operational needs of the organisation. While evidence may be required by the Employer, the Employer will not unreasonably refuse the request
(b) An employee engages in a VEMA if:
(i) they voluntarily participate;
(ii) the activity involves dealing with an emergency or natural disaster;
(iii) they are a member of, or have a member like association with a recognised emergency management body (REMB); and
(iv) the REMB requests their participation.
Voluntary Emergency Management Activity. (a) Voluntary Emergency Management Activity is not paid except for the following circumstances: Up to five (5) days paid leave at the Employee’s base rate of pay per annum for emergency services related activities that are being performed for the following organisations: Tasmania Fire Service (including volunteer fire-fighting services); Tasmania Ambulance Service; State Emergency Service or; other emergency service/organisation nominated by the Employee and agreed to by the General Manager.
(b) For the purposes of clause 10.14 (a) the Employee may be required to provide evidence of membership with that service/organisation.
(c) Approval for additional leave will be at the discretion of the General Manager or Delegated Officer.
Voluntary Emergency Management Activity. 18.2.1. An Employee who engages in an eligible community service activity is entitled to be absent from his or her employment for an unpaid period if;
18.2.2. The period consists of one or more of the following;
18.2.2.1. Time when the Employee engages in the activity;
18.2.2.2. Reasonable travelling time associated with the activity;
18.2.2.3. Reasonable rest time associated with the activity; and
18.2.2.4. Unless the activity is jury service – the Employee’s absence is reasonable in all circumstances
18.2.3. Where an Employee is seeking absence under this clause the employee is required to provide notice of the absence as soon as is reasonable practicable (this may be after the absence has commenced); and advise the Company of the period or expected period of absence.
18.2.4. An Employee who has given notice under this section must, if required by the Company provide evidence that would satisfy a reasonable person that the absence is or has been due to the Employee engaging in an eligible community service activity.
Voluntary Emergency Management Activity. A voluntary emergency management activity has the meaning described in the NES.
Voluntary Emergency Management Activity. Employees, other than casual employees shall be entitled to three (3) days paid Community Service Leave per annum (which is non cumulative) to undertake a voluntary emergency management activity.
Voluntary Emergency Management Activity. For the purpose of this Clause, jury duty means a period during which an employee is required by or under a law of the Commonwealth or the Northern Territory, to attend for jury duty and includes attendance for the purpose of jury selection.
Voluntary Emergency Management Activity. The Employer will provide an Employee with up to two days' paid leave per annum (non-cumulative) where the Employee is engaging in a voluntary emergency management activity, as defined by the NES, provided:
(a) the activity is undertaken during a day on which the Employee would otherwise be at work;
(b) the Employee satisfies the notice and evidence requirements specified by the NES; and
(c) the Employee is not in receipt of payment of any kind from recognised emergency management body.
Voluntary Emergency Management Activity. The eligible voluntary emergency management are outlined in the National Employment Standards. An employee engages in a voluntary emergency management activity only if they: • engage in an activity that involves dealing with an emergency or natural disaster • the Employee engages in the activity on a voluntary basis • the Employee is a member of, or has a member-like association with, a ‘recognized emergency management body’ and either: o the Employee was requested by or on behalf of the body to engage in the activity or o No such request was made, but it would be reasonable to expect that if the circumstances had permitted the making of such a request, it is likely that such a request would have been made. An Employee’s absence from his or her employment is unpaid and is not covered by community service leave unless the employee complies with the notice and evidence requirements under the Fair Work Act 2009. A copy of the provisions will be made available on request by the Employee.
